We wanted Indian food while we were on vacation in Wilmington and this was close to us and had decent reviews on Google. We decided to give it a try and we were glad we did. We went on a Thursday evening in early April. There were a few other groups in the restaurant but it didn't look too busy. The hostess at the front was very nice and even though we were a little early she offered to bring the food out to us in our van. We are still uncomfortable eating indoor at restaurants especially with our 3 younger kids. She had a mask on at all times. The inside of the restaurant looked really nice and it was sad we didn't get a chance to eat inside. The food was packaged very nicely in a larger box for us. The location in general isn't the nicest but let that fool you.
We ordered: • Bread Basket - the regular naan was fine, the garlic naan was very tasty and dipped it with the tikka masala sauce and it was even better. The aloo naan is slightly "spicy" which my wife and I loved but my younger kids didn't like it. We would order this again.
• Kashmiri Naan - this was amazing. We wanted to try something new and had never had this before but the description sounded interesting. It was like a perfect dessert it was just the right amount of sweetness. We would go back just to order this again. We were sad we only had 1 order of this.
• Tandoori Mix Grill - this was great as we love tandoori grilled anything. We wanted to try the different proteins. This was a great option. The chicken was seasoned great, the lamb was good, the salmon was okay and the shrimp were very large. It also came with a bunch of grilled vegetables and they all tasted great.
• Paneer Tikka Masala - our 8 year old loved this. We all like paneer in general but had never tried it in a tikka masala. Honestly for my wife and I it was a little too sweet and prefer something a little spicier. The paneer was good and the tikka masala sauce was also good just the combo wasn't our favorite.
• Lamb madras - the lamb was okay and my 11 year old loved it but my wife and I really liked the sauce. The spices were perfect. If we ordered this again we would pick a different protein.
• Nawab Seafood Biryani - this was a flop for us. We wanted to try something different and order this. There were a lot of interesting spices but none of us really thought it tasted amazing. It was just okay. We did eat it all but we probably would not order this dish again.
• Meat samosa - honestly we had never had a meat samosa before and thought it would be an interesting thing to try. It was good but we all agreed the vegetable samosa was just better.
• Vegetable samosa -these were exactly as we expected and it tasted great. We only had one order which came with 2 samosa but everyone wanted more. haha. You can never have enough samosas.
Overall this is a great restaurant and if you are in the mood for some Indian cuisine then this will definitely satisfy...
Read moreWhen you go to an Indian restaurant, you normally expect a certain standard of service and certain experiences. I can count disappointing Indian resteraunts on one hand after 40 years of frequenting them; actually two and now three.
Firstly, I knew things would be different when I stood in a quarter full resteraunt for five minutes (with no one in front of us) without even a nod in my direction. When seated we were informed that we had to pay for popadoms $3 for two. They don't come with any sause or condiments either, they cost an additional fee. I've never in my life had to pay for them it's like having to pay for tortilla chips and salsa at a Mexican.
The Tikka Massalla was like a Tikka Massalla soup. It was watery and more like a gumbo which I almost added the rice into the bowl to eat it like a gumbo. We has ordered one medium and one mild but the person who brought it out didn't know which was which and I honestly believe that they were both mild as there was no difference. We were given no napkins and we never saw our server again for the entirety of our dinner, only to give us the check after asking a separate person for it. I also had to get a drink refill from the person working the front desk.
I must add that the resteraunt was a quarter full this entire time and was in...
Read moreWe do not live near Nawab however the owner posts in Wilmington Vegan about their vegan menu and their vegan buffet the first Wednesday of every month. My husband and I went on a Wednesday for lunch and ordered off the menu. We were very impressed. We ordered a lot to try a bunch of items together. We had plenty to take home. I was always a picky eater and ate a typical American diet. After becoming vegan and more willing to try new foods, I found Nawab Indian cuisine is just what I needed to literally spice up my tastebuds. We returned to the next Vegan buffet and it was definitely more than what you pay for. We plan to make it each time offered. It is so nice to be able to eat anything served not worried what we are eating. The service has been very friendly as well. The restaurant is inviting...
