Update: After about 15 years of ordering from Pete's on and off, I'm pretty much done. Yesterday took the cake. I live a lot closer to Pete's now, so I was hopeful that they'd be quick with my order. However, it was a disaster. First they took over the estimated 45 minutes to arrive. When they finally did, I waited in the cold for over 5 minutes but didn't see anyone. I called my driver and found out they had the wrong address for me. I went back in and waited again. When they arrived again, I received my order only to realize, luckily before they pulled off, that my desert wasn't with it. I went back to my drivers and was told they'd bring it back. I wasn't looking forward to going outside a third time, but I figured they were pretty close so they'd be back quickly. An hour passes and I've been done with dinner for quite some time. I call Pete's only to discover that they were out of desert and had allegedly refunded my card. Could they not have called and told me that so I'm not sitting there waiting? As a matter of fact, they called me prior to making my order to ask what kind of sausage I wanted. Why not tell me they were out of desert then? The funny thing is I said to my roommate half jokingly, "I hope they don't screw this up somehow." and sure enough they did. I also told him the story about how years ago, I spent almost 10 minutes on the phone with one of them trying to explain landmarks around my friend's house. Only for one of them to realize they could use GPS to find me.
Never again. With Door Dash and Uber Eats there's simply too much competition in the delivery space for me to ever order from them again. Not to mention I live closer to Downtown now and could easily walk to a few other places. I could walk to Pete's too, but I don't trust the surrounding area especially late at night. I'll give them points for delivering the sandwich hot in spite of the time it took, but I'm over their customer service. The only way I'll spend money there is if I happen to feel like going in for pickup and I doubt that'll ever happen. I definitely regret tipping well too. I thought if I gave over 25% I'd at least get average service, but it was easily the worst experience I've ever had. Their food is decent, but not good enough for me to overlook their consistently shaky service. Done. Done. Done.
Original review (2016); 3 stars: The service, in terms of the politeness and patience of the people who take your order over the phone, has been hit or miss over the years, but the food has consistently been good, they are open very late and while they aren't necessarily the quickest in terms of delivery time, they are usually timely and if they make a mistake they...
Read moreThe counter (hostess) is extremely rude and unprofessional. Answers the phone by putting you on hold 99% of the time, even when she can take your order immediately. She makes unnecessary comments and seems to want to instigate an argument. My review is based on months of patronage of this establishment as I have spent a lot of money supporting this neighborhood establishment. My last order, however, was my final order as I ordered my usual pepperoni and bacon pizza and the bacon was so undercooked, it was still raw and dangerously inedible. I called to complain and was put on hold for 20 whole minutes until I spoke to a "Miguel" who tried to convince me that he personally cooks all the bacon for 15 mins and that "all customers don't like their bacon crispy". Bacon would burn if you cooked it for 15 mins so that was a lie. I took pictures and video's of my pizza before I threw it away. I called for an apology and a replacement and I got: Put on hold for an extended amount of time, a refute of my provable claim, a denial of responsibility and an inedible pizza. Despite their previous poor customer service and combative and ignorance of their "hostess" their pizza tasted great which is why I endured their nonsense. Now that their pizza has dropped to the low level of their customer service, there's zero reason for me to EVER spend money here again. People in the hood deserve the same respect as people in the burbs as their dollars are...
Read moreI think that this establishment makes pretty good pizza. This review is not a review on the food but better yet the business practices. This last incident was my 2nd or 3rd time getting a delivery. It was not until I made this last order, I found something real troubling. My bill came out about $42. The delivery driver who came mind you it’s cold never came to my door. I had to walk to his car. His receipt said about $52 was the total. I signed $52 for the total and left $0 for tip because I was confused on the price change. $10 is a pretty steep jump especially when one pizza and wings come to $40 and some change. I woke to find another charge to my account and I was like that don’t make sense. After calling the store I learned What happened. The driver and store already added in the tip/grautity. That’s why it said $52. Even after having a $0 written on the tip line he told his boss that’s I agreed to the 20% tip so the $52 total was right. Please don’t get delivery if you don’t need. You can’t even call the store directly anymore either which I knew was fishy when placing this last order. Please. double check your receipt. Put a big X on the tip line next time as the manger told me so that they know it’s no tip. And with this I got a $10 store credit not my money back. But a $10 store credit to an establishment I do not and will never patronize in. They need to fire that delivery driver. He is...
