It had been awhile since we visited this specific Waffle House and since we are preparing for an upcoming vacation, we chose to brunch here on a budget this Sunday morning. The previous visits were great, overall, but I will admit that this visit did not have me feeling entirely comfortable. Listen...I can appreciate and enjoy a classic All-American diner such as Waffle House...but there are some standards that need to be executed with precision on a daily basis, no questions asked. FOOD: Sausage Egg & Cheese Bowl (added gravy) with a single waffle (chocolate chips on the side) and a chocolate milk. This is a newer breakfast spread at Waffle House and typically, each and every one of them can nail this. This Waffle House did just that and was delish. The bowl had adequate cheese, sausage and perfectly prepared hash browns. The chocolate milk was cold, balanced and made me feel like a kid again. Overall, this meal was solid and tasted good for a Waffle House. SCORE: 4.5 STARS!! SERVICE: As we walked in, we found one clean booth available and took a seat. Soon after, we were greeted by Jade (I'm 99% certain that was her name) with a southern, friendly personality. Our order was taken promptly, routine follow-ups were timely and she even recognized the absence of gravy in my bowl, prior to setting it down in front of me and then returned with the correct order. I sincerely appreciated her attention to detail and being proactive about it. That is no rookie move. The only area about the personal service I would like to make note about: I'm just saying, but do you think discussing your Tinder profile and 200 follower count with your co-workers in a high-decibel tone is something the entire restaurant wants to hear about? I mean...I think your co-worker was definitely interested in talking about it with you so maybe this can possibly lead to some Tinder love? Other than this...your service was very good! SCORE: 3.8 STARS!! OVERALL SCORE: Here's where it gets tricky with scoring this visit. The food was up to par. The service was great with some side Tinder entertainment BUT...if I were to have worked for NC Sanitation or Health Dept. and saw what I saw today...you would have been closed down immediately and I'm confident in saying this. There was so much food, dirt, debris and trash all over the floors, you had to watch your steps as if you were walking in a mine field. From another angle, where the natural sunlight hit it just right, you can see a sludgy, swirling film coating the tiles. My guess is that the crew is mopping with recycled water and not using the cleaning products appropriately. If I'm being honest, I was appalled and grossed out. I couldn't look down anymore after taking pics when we initially sat down. To make matters much worse...the cleaning cart with towels, chemical bottles etc. was situated behind the counter, in the prep / cooking area plus there were condiments and other food-related items on the cart with these products. That is a huge no no! So...no matter how good your food tastes, no matter how good your service is, if your cleaning standards are at this level, I probably will not be visiting again. Now, even though it may have been a busier day bc of Sunday brunch diners...this is just not acceptable at all and you know it isn't either. Bums me out to score this low but it truly was that filthy and I wanted to wash my shoes once I got back home. SCORE: 2.3 STARS

This Waffle house was horrible! My sister and I came as the cooks changed shifts. The new cook put on gloves but didn't wash his hands. He slung the sausage and meats from the fridge unto the grill like they were Frisbee. He burnt my sister's sandwich and hashbrowns. He pit most of the meat on one side of the sandwich and then gave her browned lettuce. My grits egg sausage bowl had to many lumps to smash down(see photo). Too add insult He then made himself the same sandwich with a Golden brown toasted bread and paid care to serve it properly to himself. The waitress profusely apologized for his cooking and service as she had just started working at this WH. Avoid this place if their long dirty blond stringy haired cook is on the grill. Finally after making his perfect sandwich for himself he smirked at us and asked how was the food?

An exemplary Waffle House! It’s clean, but not so clean you’re worried because you’ve never seen an actually clean Waffle House. Service is attentive, but not fast. But Waffle House isn’t supposed to be fast. It’s a cultural experience as much as it is a culinary one. The staff is friendly, especially if you’re friendly to them. The best cooked waffles I’ve ever seen at a Waffle House. This is perhaps the best location in Wilmington. I’ve eaten here many times and the experience is always consistent. I’ve been both day and night. The food is exactly what you expect from Waffle House and then some. The hash browns are always crispy. The coffee is always hot and has that distinctive Waffle House coffee hint of cigarette taste. No complaints. 10/10 would recommend.

Today i woke up and thought "Waffle House sounds good for breakfast" I attempted to order online to my dismay you cannot order from Waffle House online in 2021! So i got the phone number and called no answer called again no answer and a third time nope no answer. So i figured ok they must be busy no biggie ill drive up there and order. I get there its not busy and there are 6 people there doing various random things. So i walked up to the register waited my turn and was greeted by a very nice young lady named molly who happily took my to go order with this order i did order a cup of coffee while i wait. So i paid a tot of $27 dollars for my order and sat down to wait for my coffee. Molly when on to help another customer. Then began conversing with her co workers and other customers as i watch she does finally call my order back tor the cook. Who i wanna say is a hard working kid. anyway she calls back my order of which is a large order of Hash browns "all the way" so i continue to wait as they set up my order on the grill. Molly goes to do something else so i ask another waitstaff Cindy for my coffee which she brings me along with sugar creamer and a spoon. My order is made and i take it home.. I open my "All the way hash browns and first thing i notice is they are not all the way!! On the website its advertised all the way hash browns is with Berts chili AND sausage gravy...While that may seem like a bit much to other people I see it as an opportunity to try something new. also my hash browns were over cooked on one side and undercooked on the other. So in conclusion the service wasn't great Molly was very friendly but forgot my coffee. The cook was a young man he may just need more training. The Hash browns were ehh you should consider increasing the portion on your hash browns a Large order wasnt that large... One the bright side The pecan waffle was amazing as usual i guess if your called the Waffle House you gotta get one...

I visited store 2138 in Wilmington, NC on July 23 around 1am. I Rate this place 5 stars, so you can read this. The place is very clean. Unfurtunaly, it's the very first time that l see in a Waffle House a very inconsistent service of this brand. Starting from the food...the sandwich l ordered it was really sad. The bread was as flat as a tortilla, the lettuce was way old, and the onions on my hashbrows were not even cook . Even passing that, I definitely did NOT appreciate the fact that the server was so loud, even while taking to other customers, the rest have to listen to unwanted conversations. She was a nice lady, but keep it close when talking to a person without have to punish the rest to listen. No putting attention to that matter; I just couldn't ignore the fact that she was coughing all over the place without any remorse or care to cover herself. I could not just eat at peace seing how she cough over the preparation area, and over the utensils given to the customers. I ask her if she needed a maks, and she just say, that she didn't, that she just have allergies.....but how nasty its that knowingly that she has coughing problems did NOT wear a mask? This review, its not to cause problems, but to let management to take care in this health issue while the world STILL in pandemic. I was glad to get out, and to my surprise, outside sitting in the floor, it was another member of that team smoking mariguana.....I know that, because I'm allergic to those smells and im glad I did not throw up right there, and as I walk away, this person say to my bye mamacita.....witch its NOT appropriate comming from someone who I do not know. A have a good night, insted, would be the most appropriate way to talk to the customer. Today. My mind has totally changed about Waffle House. Many years all over the country I enjoyed fearly good service, but today. RIP...
