The boba tea factory — Restaurant in Wilmington

I read about this new spot in Port City Daily, followed up with numerous positive reviews on Google, and I had to try it out. Note that I am Taiwanese-American and have grown up consuming boba. I had yet to be particularly impressed by most boba in the US barring some few places in the NYC/NJ area. Not only is the owner of the store very friendly, but the interior space reminds me much more of boba spots I am used to+prefer, emphasising the Asian origins of the drink in a clean, well-lit space with Asian inspired decor.

And, as for the drink itself? Properly brewed and tasty tea that's profile is distinct and rich-tasting through the added milk and flavour (I got taro black milk tea). The boba, which are refreshed at regular intervals, is of an appropriate and desirable size, unlike many other spots; they are petite, properly sweetened, and chewy and soft all the way through, so they move easily through each sip of the drink. No more getting smacked in the back of the throat by a hard, starchy blob!

I used to be a regular here when they first opened but moved to New Jersey for a short period of time. I am now moved back and have to say I am extremely disappointed with how run down this place has become. This place was dirty, with stains on the floors and walls, as well as multiple roach sightings. There's no denying that I was appalled, especially to see a dead roach on the floor where I was meant to pick up my drink, along with other ones crawling on the walls behind the counter.. I had already paid for my drink before realizing the severity of the situation, which I threw out upon leaving. On top of this, prices have increased and staff appear to have attitude issues, which I assume means they do not like their job here, which used to not be the case. I work for the state and did not hesitate to make a report with the local health department. Please be careful with what you choose to consume here, as there seems to be many health violations. Very unfortunate experience here with two of the ladies that were working. I ordered online for a taro black milk tea but wanted to substitute the regular milk with almond milk. When I arrived, I was told that their black tea is pre mixed with regular milk. I tried to ask if I could order another drink instead since I did not want just Taro flavoring and almond milk. I was met with a lot of resistance and the two ladies end up yelling at me because they thought I didn't understand that I couldn't do the drink I ordered.

When this place first opened I had no trouble ordering my favorite drinks. They now only have almond milk as an alternative and then also decided to premix their black tea with regular milk.
