I went there around lunch time ordered my what we thought was homemade coleslaw, It may be but hard for me to believe we do not think it was made at Marty's home. When I got to the drive through window I wanted to add something to my order, I was politely informed that I would have to go to the end of line. When I got home the coleslaw tasted low budget store bought. I went back to Marty's and asked them for a refund, they told me NO NO. How ever after raising hell. Some good guy who had a John Wayne appearance refunded my money. I also explained to them that I was a paying customer, not a happy customer. This was not my encounter with the management that did NOTHING WRONG Been there on several times before. I asked to have bbq sandwich no slaw what do they do they put slaw on my sandwiches. But when I have to go back inside and be nice and make a formal complaint, I got same vibrations that they did nothing wrong. I have read more reviews it seems like I'm not the only person with this problem at Marty's. I don't mean to be a bad guy here, but I tried to turn the other cheek, I know you can't get everything right 100% of the time. My question how many times do you need? I have always been told that when you are doing business with the public, the customer is always right !!! Well Marty you have lost a customer. I WILL NOT BE THERE EVER AGAIN. While you people lined up to get to your place, keep doing what you are doing and that line continually gets...
Read moreIt's my mom's birthday and we end up in Wilson and decide to give Marty's a go. I have seen the show on Tar Heel Traveler and I have heard the locals and not so locals rave about it. Marty's is always talked about and associated with this legendary line that would rival Chik-fil-A (shoutout CFA) and the food is the best. "Long line and good food...I must go now"...so we went.
I get there and the line didnt disappoint, it was wrapped around the building and out into the driveway. This is usually when I keep driving and find something else to eat, but I came with the intention of trying this food and I got in line. It moved with precision and we never stopped rolling. There is an order taker who was very polite, a money taker who also was very nice, and next thing I knew I was at the food window. I only had to wait 5 mins maybe and my food was coming to the car. It actually had everything in it that I ordered. My order was actually right...the first time!! 😊
I get home and tear into this fish plate that included flounder, hp, yams and mac and cheese. I also got some peach cobbler as well. The fish, yams and cobbler were really good. I mean really good and this is a reheated meal as I dont live near Wilson, so the food was cold when I got home. I haven't tried the hush puppies yet and the mac and cheese was so so.
Overall it was a filling meal and I enjoyed it. If I am ever in Wilson's again and they are open. I will definitely stop by to grab some...
Read moreI've been going by here for years but have never been able to stop. Every time I've gone by the drive thru line is around the building, out the parking lot and on the side street, just like today. It doesn't matter what time of day, weekends or week days it's always the same. I finally didn't have to get back so I decided to see what the hype was all about. I got the small combo platter (BBQ and a leg with slaw, mac and cheese and fries. Wanted to try the cabbage but got out voted. The BBQ was very good. I didn't even put any sauce on it. The leg was great! The crust was flavorful, the chicken was juicy but not greasy and so tender. The mac and cheese was tasty as were the fries, hush puppies and the slaw. The people were so friendly and did a great job even though the place was packed. No empty seats but the 1 we were lucky enough to snag. You could tell they were used to it. We decided to go in rather than through the drive through because I didn't want to eat on the road while driving home but the drive thru seemed just as efficient. This was 2:30 on a Sunday and you would think it wouldn't be crowded but just like every other time I've been by they were slammed. They have meat and desert specials during the week listed on the TVs. I will be back to try those. The amount of food I got for $8.40 was crazy, considering other places I've been lately. If you're like me and don't stop because you don't want to wait in line you're missing some good...
