Last straw. We've been regular customers but typically been quiet. But prices are crazy expensive compared to others offering the same and now the quality is right down the tubes. We called them to explain but they just blamed it on being busy. 1) it was 4-ish PM on a weeknight and there was no one else in there picking anything up. 2) just because you are busy does not justify rushing and producing bad food. This example of beef and mushrooms. 3) Everything was undercooked and cold to the point the beef "broth" was coagulated. Mushrooms were not cooked for more than 120 seconds tops. All vegetables were raw to the point the entire dish was cold. 4) They said 15 minutes so we got over there in 10 minjtes and food was all ready and waiting with NO ONE else picking up food and no orders sitting behind the counter. 5) Particular dish in question was Beef WITH MUSHROOMS but there were a total of SEVEN mushroom halves and rhe rest was all raw crunchy vegetables.
We got pint beef w mushrooms, large wonton soup ($6!! For a qt of soup), small hot and sour soup and quart shrimp lo-mein ($10.85). Total was over $32. Not an issue if the food was good but only the precooked soup and noodles were...
Read moreAsia Cafe is accurate in their order taking, consistent with their quality and not skimpy on their serving sizes.....all for a fair price. Their meats, such as in Beef and Broccoli in Brown Sauce, are of a good cut of meat. Nothing overly chewy or disappointedly portioned here! They are, I believe, a family business and they try to make their customers happy and coming back.
I was brought up on NYC style Chinese food, mostly Cantonese, I believe. We've tried other Chinese restaurantsIn Clayton and surrounding areas, but Asia Cafe is the closest where I can find that level, and style, of Chinese food. Anytime I've gone to that shopping center, I'm weakened by the smell of their cooking - you can't miss it (though recently, McDonalds overcomes everything with their French Fry and poorly cooked, grey hamburger meat stench.
I've been going there for 7 years as of the writing of this review. Of everything I've tried, only the Wanton Soup is not quite NYC style, though I enjoy it with every order - it's just a different style and not bad in any way at all! I always get enough to have some to heat up the next day for I find all Chinese food, plus pizza, tastes better when reheated, for...
Read moreWent there the first time about a week ago in the afternoon.there wasn't a line. And the lady cooked it to order. I had one box that had all the vegetables and the shrimp in the one box. and a separate small box for the rice. I ordered the same thing today went there and the only thing different in my order was the difference between fried rice and white rice. which white rice was what I bought the first time and the lady I called up to ask her how come we didn't get the rice in a separate box and more vegetables she proceeded to argue with me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about and yelled at me on the phone I didn't understand why I had to be yelled at and mistreated I'm not sure if I'll go back ever again I just moved to the area and I love Chinese food but even the food I got today wasn't as good as the first time I was there so their portion controls are not very good and they're patience with customers which I'm a really nice guy. I need kindness not sure if I'll go back p.s I just wanted to have a nice evening eating Chinese which my wife, she isn't a fan of this type of food, but she did it for me, it kind of wrecked our evening...
