Cupcake Apothecary Bakery and Cafe — Restaurant in Winchester

I love cupcake apothecary. I have gone here since the week after they initially opened in their first location and they have done all birthday cakes/cupcakes/cake pops/macarons for all kids and myself birthday party and special occasions.z however lately every time I’ve walked into cupcake apothecary there will be 2-3 different staff members standing in the back not doing anything and ignore you while you stand there for several minutes without any of them saying a word. Also their cakes say 48hr notice for special orders I came in 76hrs before I wanted to pick up a SMALL single tier cake for my twins 8th birthday she has been making their cakes since they were 2 and we moved to Kentucky. But they said they don’t have the time and I stated their policy and said it’s only a small cake and the lady said hang on let me ask the baker and the baker came out and gasped rolled her eyes and said no we can’t do all that fondant work (it had 3 small decor of fondant one being a tnt square a number 8 and a very small “creeper” as it was a Minecraft theme cake) I get that business get busy and I’ve been a loyal consistent customer to this establishment for years and I love Sarah but after my last several experiences I’ve decided to no longer come here. Cupcake Apothecary is one of the best establishments that Winchester has to offer. And that is saying a lot because this town is a hidden jewel and adds more non-chain small businesses all the time.

I am well-traveled and have spent more than half my life living in large metropolitan areas. Cupcake Apothecary rivals any place I have frequented including Magnolia Bakery in NYC.

It is worth the drive to get a taste of the magnificent offerings. Cupcakes are fabulous but they also offer cakes by the slice and food. The bonus is the friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of seating including couches in front of a fireplace.

I have tried this business’ baked goods three times, and unfortunately I was disappointed each time. I kept trying thinking that maybe it was just a fluke or a bad day in the bakery, but unfortunately, it seems the consensus is not good. I have tried their cookies, cupcakes, and pastries, and all of them were incredibly dry and lacking flavor. The cupcakes tasted like grease, and were very dry and crumbly, and the icing tasted like pure sugar. I was very sadly disappointed.
