I live in the DMV area and NOTHING comes close to the authentic flavor of this place. I grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, it's really hard to find good Carribbean restaurants. I've tried a couple in the DMV area and it's disappointing every time. Overly expensive, not authentic, bland, small portions. This restaurant is a little on the pricey side but not as much as the restaurants in DMV. You get what you pay for: the food is well seasoned, the portions are massive, and the family that runs this restaurant are so kind. Curry goat is my favorite dish, if you're to judge a Carribbean dish, it would be the curry. It was so flavorful, and goat is hard to cook, not everyone can do it right but their goat was cooked to tender perfection. I also ordered their oxtail and beef patties (they didn't have any fresh, so I bought their frozen patties). The oxtail was just as tender as the goat and the beef patties were flaky, also, the plantains on the side were to die for. I loved everything about this place, it reminded me of my home country. I wish I lived closer but I am glad I happened upon this place by attending a festival nearby. Hopefully I'll be visiting in their area in the future, I would definitely make this a...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but this restaurant left me no choice. Hands down, it is the absolute BEST food I’ve had thus far in Winchester and the best Caribbean food I have yet to find! Nothing could have made this dish any more perfect. Everything was seasoned and smoked to perfection! The jerk chicken was so tender and moist! I rarely eat dark meat, but I ate every piece! Don’t even get me started on the cabbage! Eating it so much as a child, I lost a taste for it as an adult, but Island Delights changed my opinion! It was cooked just right! Buttery, flavorful, and delicious! The beef patty was incredible!! This place brings an entirely new meaning to soul food! You can taste generations of souls being poured into this hidden gem! Every bite brought me back to my childhood and tasted like home cooking. I didn’t get to try the Island drink, but I look forward to it on my next visit! Thank you for this...
Read moreI happened upon this place on my way looking for someplace to grab a quick lunch during work. I've always wanted to try Jamaican food, but have never been brave enough because spicy food usually isn't my thing. I entered the establishment, and the staff there was amazing. They told me about the dishes and I was able to ask questions about the spice level without judgement. I ordered the curry chicken lunch, which is amazing. But while waiting the lady brought me out a small plate of Jerk Chicken so I could try it with and without the sauce. It was so good, I nearly licked the plate! I will definitely be ordering from here again! The people and the food are amazing! Great place to go to try Jamaican food for...
