“Steak dinner” - ~9 Oz ribeye, beans and rice, fries. Great home style meal. Everything’s made to order, so it did take a little while for the food to come out. (Guessing 20-25 minutes; we weren’t in a rush, so I wasn’t tightly tracking.) Food came out perfect. It was warm without being broiling. The steak was medium-well, evenly cooked, and not the least bit dry, to my pleasant surprise. It kicked the keester of anything I ever got at Outback. Beans, rice, and fries all precisely what one would expect in a home-style meal. All of it was exactly right — neither overdone nor underdone. My wife also tried their collard greens, which were also spot-on. Not pictured because they didn’t last long. 😋 10/10 for execution. All in with a soda was $23.50 before tip. CASH ONLY (for now?); they weren’t taking cards when we were there. The on-site ATM has a $3 fee. They had a new cash register in a box on the bar, so perhaps this is changing. The proprietor is a nice lady and chatted with us a bit, seated out front on the patio enjoying the weather. The restaurant itself is a small, low-key converted store of a restaurant, with a limited menu of home-style soul food. Nothing more, nothing less. If that sounds good to you, I’d say give it a shot. After this, we intend to go back to try the chicken dinner. And, don’t mind the road work — we had no issues getting there and street parking from the Old Town side of Kent St. They seem to be set up for online ordering as well, presumably for pick-up, but we didn’t try that this time.

To start: my husband and I will definitely be back to T-Bones the next time we pass through Winchester. Not the best photos but a good representation of how awesome everything was: My dish: Jerk chicken with red bean and rice + Mac and cheese. Loved it. Very flavorful and perfectly spicy. The chicken was plentiful and SO tender that it fell off the bones. For the uninitiated, watch for bones! Husband’s dish: curry chicken with red bean and rice + collard greens. He also loved it and said that the chicken was sooo good. I usually am not a big collard greens person because some restaurants don’t give it enough time to cook so you end up chewing for days. Not here. Not this dish. T-Bone’s collard greens were a little salty for us, but it was so soft and flavorful as well. Ms T-Bone personally came out to greet us and provide some history about her building as well as the surrounding places. This is a large part of why we go to restaurants tbh. We love learning the “why” and the “when” of places. Parking: we had no problem finding street parking out front. Seating: a few old school counter stools inside with more tables outside in the patio area (sorry, didn’t count) Can’t wait until Ms T-Bone gets her food truck up and running!

Perfect place to relax on the porch, have a drink, and watch the world go by. Simple and inexpensive but full of character. Something very different in Winchester, a real treat. Wonderfully kind staff — including the owner, T-Bone, who you can just tell is the soul of the place. Might be my new summer evening hangout.

What are you waiting for?

Better take yo'self down to T-Bones Bar and Grill, and get prepared for some lip-smackin', make you wannabe momma-slappin' good Down-South comfort Soul-food. Juicy Jerk chicken- with a well-balanced seasoning, flavorful fresh and fluffy rice, on a soft 6-8 inch tortilla. It was piled high, for $8- it was well worth the price. The baked Mac and cheese still has my mouth watering at the thought! I'm looking forward to going again, especially since the owner/server was so personable. She shared the rich history of the building with us, which was thoroughly appreciated.

Oh! And $2 CAN BEER SPECIAL? Wow! - also check out the local T-Bones Bar and Grill food truck!

Definitely recommend, and look forward...
