6/5 Update: I’m genuinely confused because because when I initially posted this many months ago, the owner responded with a genuinely apologetic reply and I was impressed with how he handled it. Now, that reply is gone and I received a notification with a new response simply just critiquing my use of DoorDash and saying restaurants are a tough business. Like what?
Let me start off by saying that I don’t begrudge any small business the opportunity to be profitable and successful. That having been said, I would love to get a complete order from this business. I live in Philadelphia and when I traveled to Winchester last year, I fell in love with their food. They forgot one of my sides but everything I did receive was so good I didn’t sweat it. This time, I ordered and quickly received a message from my DoorDash driver asking me to cancel the order because they were out of my appetizer and would not even begin preparing my order for another half hour. DoorDash wouldn’t refund me because the system said the restaurant was already working on my order, so I was forced to wait and hope for the best. The second driver was kept waiting at least twenty minutes and when he finally pulled up to my hotel, the only thing in the bag was the side dish I ordered. They didn’t have my appetizer or my entree. I had to order from another restaurant just to eat.
I say this with all sincerity, I love your food and I was so looking forward to enjoying dinner from your restaurant during my return to Winchester. I am sooooo sad and disappointed. I’m glad that you are so busy that you are running out of food but please, if you can’t manage the additional volume from accepting food delivery orders, PLEASE shut off ordering so you can focus on the guests you have in front of you and not disappoint those of us that want to support your businesss but can’t get to...

Read moreHog it up is my favorite barbeque place, hands down, but just here but in the entire country. They do it Texas style, which may be a little different than what I was used to, but actually gives more flexibility and better options. They greet you when you walk in and see if you've been there before. Everything is sold by the pound, and that's why I say I get more options, not less. Real hungry? Then a half pound of brisket and a Texas Twinkie for me. Not as hungry for the kiddo? A quarter pound of pulled pork and some bread does the trick. The potato salad is my go to side, but they are all good, including the beans. They smoke everything on site and you can tell the obvious difference in quality between a typical BBQ joint, where the meats are shipped in tubs from New York or whatever. This is not that. This is not food service quality. This is smoked on site and is by far the best barbeque I have ever had. The homemade brats are amazing, the ribs are far and away the best I've ever eaten, do not miss the Texas Twinkie and the chili. For an after dinner drink, they have a really eclectic twist on the Old Fashioned-THEY SMOKE IT, right in front of you. It's so cool. The prices are good, but it's not priced like fast food because it's not fast food, so don't expect that. There's a service fee so you're not pressured to tip the staff, they're paid accordingly. That's refreshing as tip culture has gone out of hand. If they go above and beyond, then of course I do, too. Hog It Up Barbeque is a gem in Winchester waiting to be discovered. I feel like one day there will be a television crew there and everyone will be talking about the place. And I'll be like yeah I knew it all along, I live across...
