Loma's — Restaurant in Winchester

My wife and I visit Lomas maybe every other month. It had always been a great experience and we like supporting local. Tonight was a little different. We entered Lomas very hungry. Started off well. As soon as we were seated our waitress was there and we had drinks very quickly. The waitress took our order quickly. It seemed like a long time and no food but my wife noticed the people that came in after us had their appetizers. Then they got their food. I went to find waitress and bartender said he would find out what was going on. The bartender said we would be up in a couple of minutes. After a total of at least 45 minutes of total waiting we decided to pay for our drinks and find food elsewhere. Even that interaction seemed wonky. I did not see waitress so I told bartender that we wanted to pay for drinks and go. I will admit that after 45 minutes of waiting for food I thought that they would comp the drinks. Not only did they not comp them but I had to wait til they were ready to ring them up. We did get an apology but also said the kitchen was slammed due to a party. I said the people behind us came in after us and had both appetizers and food while we had nothing. My wife mentioned maybe the waitress forgot to put it in. We were told no that it was in the computer. Still not sure why we didn't get food for 45 plus minutes and why people after us had food and appetizers but good to know it was in the computer. The other question is when our waitress realized there was an issue why didn't she come and talk to us? We never interacted again after she took our order. I wish Lomas well as they are a local restaurant where we have limited choices. Tonight's experience...

I’m here now, I’ve called and tried to place an order .. no answer do I decided to drive here and order . I can in & No one would take my order so I called (while still here) and was told it’s an hour wait till they can put in my food… I said I would still like to order and was put on hold .. I’m still on hold (20 minutes) while sitting in the lobby .. I spoke to the lady in front and told her I understand the wait but I would like to put in my food, can I be seated and order with a waitress .. I’ll tip. She said no… there are open tables and waitress standing around so I’m a bit confused . She said I can’t order for an hour … in a hour they will be closed . I have my taste buds set on something on their menu.. otherwise I would have left . But I’m going to sit here to see how this is played out . She also said the kitchen is overwhelmed.. 🧐 ok .

Edit : I’m at the bar and there is this lady who hasn’t ordered yet either , I told her what was told to me .. that I couldn’t put my order in for an hour . She said they didn’t tell her that (older Caucasian woman) me being mixed female .

Edit: bartender finally took my order ☺️ Food is great . Service today not so much . I’ll edit if my next experience...

So...I've gone back to this location 3 times since my very positive initial visit, and all 3 times have caused me to give this low score...and I hate to do it! I'll give you the details of the previous visit: A table of 5, and 2 of us ordered fish & chips. We received one piece of fish & a piece of chicken instead (not a pleasant surprise for pescatarians). The waitress was understanding and ordered a new batch of fish to be cooked. When the new order arrived, one piece of fish was ok, but the other was raw...literally raw...on a reorder! 2 others ordered the shrimp & grits. One was barely warm, but seasoned quite well. The other was cold and bland, so there was a very big difference here regarding consistency. (The other two visits were disappointing...cold fries, room temp entrees, and food not seasoned very well.) I'm not going to be able to give this place another try...and it's very disappointing, especially when the worst experience was when we tried to show out of town guests a good time in Winchester. I hope Loma's takes a very close look at who they put in the kitchen and be sure that the food doesn't sit too long before...
