Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Winchester

April 2025-I was looking at the other posts about this place in the past few months, hasn't improved any. Also any time the owner HAS responded, have you noticed that it's a quick copy and paste? lol It needs new management. The food quality, the workforce being cut razer thin, the fact that you will always wait 20min for the spicy Cajun chicken, it's not changed any, which I hate because I really wanna go back here again.

This is from Nov 2024- About a month ago I came by, it was 7pm, their sign said the lobby closed at 9pm, the doors were locked, so I was like ok I'll go through the drive thru, we wait in line 20 min, this woman finally answers and asks if I can wait a few min lol I think this poor woman was alone, probablly had to cook and go to the bathroom when she could, so after waiting all this time I order the Spicy style chicken. You know that's where they get "Louisana kitchen" from, she tells me it'll be bout 20 more minutes, I cancel my order and leave. I'm drivin by yesterday, say to myself ok maybe they had a bad night. I'm at the counter, gonna use my survey reciept coupon from a different Popeyes to get 2 peices of free chicken. The manager is too busy to come to the front and guess what....it'll be 20 more minutes if I want Spicey Style Chicken lol is everyone having to wait for Spicey style? Avoid this place until they change management and can get it together, it's in trouble and bad shape, it needs corporate...

My wife and I came here expecting excellent service, but we were let down terribly.

The first time that we came they were out of spicy chicken, we said no problem, so we took the mild. Terrible mistake number one. There was no seasoning on the chicken. We overlooked it as it was cooked well.

We came back later, now there was spicy chicken but it was undercooked as the meat was still red. My wife cannot eat any type of red meat or else she would get sick and she is 8 months pregnant.

This is when we returned the chicken and opted for chicken tenders instead. When we returned the remaining chicken the male employee who served us dumped the tenders in front of us and claimed that we had him fooled into giving us extra food for free. The box of chicken we returned was still sitting on the counter.

He started complaining to his co-workers, not realizing that one of them already collected the food back. This then told us we made terrible mistake number 2.

Only when he realized that we returned the whole box already, he then tried to smooth it over. It was too late, we already were painted terribly and there as no telling who else heard. We were completely embarrassed.

I have been to several Popeye chicken and I love their food. I have, however, ran into issues at other Popeyes when they are trying to get the food out fast. This one in particular was amazing!!!! I got the chicken nuggets and I usually have to wait because they are so popular. The chicken was fully cooked, where I have had to take my order home from other locations and finish cooking my nuggets because they were still pink in the middle. The nuggets were all good size where I have run into the issue of large crumbs being considered a nugget and you get the amount you pay for. They were not over cooked, they were a perfect fully cooked juicy piece of chicken and I was very impressed. I will definitely return to this location in Winchester Kentucky..... it's a little out of my way compared to other locations, but the quality of food is totally worth it in my opinion. I will probably be contacting the main office about the lack of quality from the other locations now that I know that they truly are capable of doing things right.
