I am quite pleased with the food quality at Soru Ramen.
This restaurant is very close to home and I had been looking forward to trying it for quite some time. Suffice to say that I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu. The inside is fully decorated in anime cartoon fashion, displays of characters chowing down on ramen, of course! Small and intimate but inviting. The service was quick and friendly. Loved that my first Yelp check in included a free boba Thai tea.
Now the food, yummy! I started off with the chicken karagee (not pictured). It was okay. Needs a little more seasoning and a little more color in my opinion. But good nonetheless. The takoyaki I completely fell in love with. Most other establishments only serve them with sauce but here you get the added bonus of a ton of bonito flakes. This just bumps up the flavor ten fold. Both the tiger and dragon rolls were fresh and tasty. The soru Roll was definitely fantastic. Nicely seared fish with a delicious umami smoke flavor. They char the fish on top of the rice so some of the rice also gets nice and charred, yummy deliciousness.
I also got the tonkatsu ramen which I did not take a picture of because I inhaled it too quickly. The salty, fatty pork flavor in the broth was perfect. The chashu and egg were cooked to perfection. The yolk in the egg was still a bit soft and runny, oh man I'm hungry... I left a small amount of broth in my bowl and after a few minutes I started to see the collagen forming around the cold bowl which was definitely a great sign if you know anything about bone broths.
Soru, thank you for the yummy food, I'll...

Upon entering was quickly greeted and told to sit wherever I chose. No one was in at the moment. So it was nice to sit down and really take in all of the anime. Totally fell in love with the decor in here.
Menus were given,. and drink order taken. I had a couple of questions and everything was answered with ease. Opted for the Wings, Garlic Edamame, Thai Tea with Honey Boba, Chicken Fried Rice, Gyoza, Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen, and Tonkatsu Ramen. I was asked spice level on everything - I got it all mild. I dont know where to start regarding the food. However nothing in the slightest disappointed at all. Everything I ordered was on point. I will be coming back in the next few days.
Interior is so awesome. If you are a fan of anime you will enjoy yourself in here. There are several booth backs with accommodating tables and chairs. Everything was very clean. Staff were wearing masks to ensure good ol Covid safety. My table was checked on continually.
Would most def recommend -pricing is very reasonable and portions were generous. I am still surprised this quality in this neighborhood. Staff is very courteous...
Read moreI had a big hopes for this place. It’s average. The plus is location, it’s nice to have ramen spot on east side of the town. The food is ok, but I wouldn’t call it authentic or special. The ramen broth was strong enough, but too spicy (we had two out of five level of spicy and it was too much already), rainbow sushi roll was ok, good size. Fried rice had only corn and spring onion in it, it was lacking veg, very oily too. Noodles the same. Hot tea was served in plastic cup (boiling hot), but cold water was served in metal cup … should be the other way round, I mean who wants to drink a melting plastic??? It was three of us at the same table, we ordered together, but food was arriving in different times, so we didn’t eat together… very unorganised. There was weird music late 90ties love songs playing, which felt weird compared to the Asian anime walls around. The owner should focus more on details of the service and get some tea pots for hot tea. I might gonna give it a try again at some point to see if they just had a bad day or it’s their...
