I love the fact this restaurant is so close to my apartment. The fun thing about this restaurant is they have a whole mural dedicated to the most iconic LA superstars the world has seen. It means alot to me being an Angeleno myself, it really hits home to me the type of pride the owner brings to Las Vegas. I wish I can give a donation or a high five to whomever created that masterpiece. I want to dive into the history of what LA hotdogs are all about, first: Los Angeles isn't really known to draw in tourism for hotdogs, but for people who worked and lived in Southern LA, it's one of the best kept secrets the city has. Pink's hotdogs is a Hotspot in LA, and also if you enjoyed the nightlife, roughly around 2am after the club closes, there would be food trucks or stands serving hotdogs wrapped in bacon or onions, etc. The aroma of the grills charring up beef Frank's made your mouth watered. If you made it this far into the review, you're probably asking "okay? What does that have to do with this restaurant and their hotdogs", well, ma'am & sir, what this restaurant serves is the heart and soul of L.A. Hotdogs that taste absolutely delicious with a friendly staff and a ice cold beverage. Anything you ordered off the menu is made with the origins of California in mind. Trust me when I say this, I have really good hotdogs before, one from Detroit Michigan/ $1 hotdogs from NYC and Chicago. Let me tell you the Westside has their own swagger when it comes to hotdogs. I recommend you to go down there and try a LA style hotdogs. This place makes me homesick...
Read moreWe had Dirt Dog once before- on the strip, and this was a very different experience. On the strip, it's in a big food court, so you don't get much of the vibe of the restaurant. I didn't realize it's LA based, so that was fun info, and the restaurant felt like LA. The floors were concrete and the ceilings were really high, like a warehouse. They had some music playing fairly loud, so it was echoey. There was a really big mural of Tupac, which was pretty cool, and some other LA decor. On the strip I thought I had something called a Sin City dog, but it wason the menu here, they had an LA cheesesteak, which I tried. I preferred the other one, though i don'trememberwhat it had on it. My husband also preferred what he had on the strip to the Hot Hotdog he had here. The service was great in both locations. The hotdogs are bacon wrapped, and grilled, so the bacon is really part of the dog, so it's pretty salty. A lot of the additional ingredients are also salty, so if you don't like a lot of salt, order carefully. They do have other menu items.
Overall, I think I liked the food better on the strip, but I enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant, and im not sure if I didn't just enjoy the food more last time because it was an outing with the grand kids and I wasn't paying that much attention to...
Read moreFebruary 6th 2023 My girlfriend and I came to try Dirt Dog on East Sahara. We ordered around 7:40. At 7:55 Chelsea was calling for ned for the bag of food on the counter. I repeated my order to her from where I was and she said no. After talking with the cashier who rang me up, I was told they were waiting on the carne asada fry. Seeing the food delivered to the people who came after us with carne asada frys a few minutes later was irritating. Another 10 mins goes by Chelsea comes and proceeds to ask me if I wanted my food for here, or to go? I am then to learn that the bag that had been sitting on the counter for the past 30 minutes was my food, and the carne asada frys are almost ready, It had been close to an hour at this point, I cancelled my order and was told I'd be refunded. I was given the "still warm" bag with the dui fries, and corn, but not the asada fries and nothing was refunded.
I'd also like to know why we are prompted to tip before given service. I paid a tip for food I didn't even receive, and a bag of food that had been sitting on the counter for over a half hour. Maybe we should go back to tipping...
