China Gourmet — Restaurant in Winchester

Of all the places I thought would close because of covid, this was at the top of the list. The service is incredibly awful; always has been. I stayed away for a couple of years and I guess now I won't go back for good. I started ordering online because of all the hassle calling in an order, but even then when I go to pick up these people can't seem to understand. I'm not faulting them for poor english but being completely dense. So I ordered this morning and when I get there I have to wait, ok. But this guy looks straight at me 3 times as in "what do you need" and then as soon as I say something he turns away. I ordered, paid and then I have to stand around for 10 mins while my order is 5 ft away. Just has to hand it to me. Finally when he gets to me he acts like it's his first day or something as I try to explain that that order over there on the counter is mine. Plenty of other places away within walking so I don't need the hassle. The food here is pretty good but every time I try to call in an order, it's really painful. I'm just fed up. I called, gave my number twice. I understand there is a language barrier but the guy on the other end is just stupid. I'm sitting on the phone waiting for him to take my order and all of a sudden he says, 10 mins and hangs up without even getting my order. What? Call back and place the order again but when I went to pick it up, it wasn't ready! Either they care less about service or they just don't like...

I ordered a number of items on line including ones of their specials: fish with black bean sauce. I've ordered it many times from this place and it was good. Today however, I get home and start to eat the fish with black bean sauce and note the flavor is off. It is reminiscent of a brown gravy. I drive back to the store and the hostess greats me and asks if everything is ok. I tell her no, the fish with black bean sauce does not have any black bean sauce. She said this is fish. I say yes but no black bean sauce. She says what's the problem, it's fish. She's asks me something I cannot understand indicating the cook. I assume they will remake the fish with black bean sauce. Instead the cook dumps my returned food into the pan and adds something to the fish. I assumed it was black bean sauce and asked how the black bean sauce will clash with the existing sauce. The answer is that they no longer use black bean sauce and now use red bean sauce and the cook added more of the sauce I didn't like to my food and repackaged it. I insisted on black bean sauce and was told the red bean sauce was "more better" and was handed my food back. I was so stunned with disbelief that I left. I will never return of course. I suppose I could take them to small claims court for selling me something they don't make; taking my money under false pretenses and failing to give me...

If I could leave a no star I would this place when you choose to order for pick up they literally give you no choices to do so except uber eats and other places like that to have to order through. I placed my order through the uber eats app and was charged$41.89 to pick this up myself. I get there and attached to my order was my receipt totaling $25.90! After long conversations contacting uber to get a refund on the$15.99 up charge to basically place my order with them as it was literally the only choice they tell me that this place China Gourmet is the ones who decide the charges through them. So unless you want to be ripped off I suggest you do not order through these ppl at all. Bad or for business charging $15.99 to place an order through uber one of the many choices to place the order so they don't have to answer thier phone and take the order themselves why??? I'll be posting to every review place I can and telling everyone in this community ,and I live near this place so trust me, I'll never order here or allow my friends that I care about to do so either!!! Bad place they rip you off. For not even good food at that either. Lesson learned here. They should be ashamed there is another place by Albertsons I suggest you go to. I thought I'd give this place a try only to get ripped off and disappointed by the food....
