Lake House Tavern — Restaurant in Windham

Great food, selection and service but the dining room was VERY loud. Maybe it was just the incredibly obnoxious party of 7 or 8 all the way on the other side of the room monopolizing every square inch of air in the place but I feel maybe part of it is the room itself. It was impossible to have any conversation at our table whatsoever or even hear what the server was saying. Perhaps the bartender/server should have shut them off and up. It’s a public place not a backyard bbq or private event room. It appeared much quieter in the bar area itself. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’d chance this place again. Eating out these days is too expensive not to be able to enjoy the atmosphere and the company of the folks in your own party. You’ve gotta be selective where you spend your hard earned money. On our way home from the fair yesterday, we were looking for a bite to eat and came upon Lake House Tavern. We were greeted immediately by Libby who was a fantastic server. We had the homemade meatballs w/linguini and the slider special. The food was amazing, the meatballs were just like grandma used to make; the Tavern sauce on the sliders was so delicious and spot-on for taste. The owner stopped by to chat with us and we raved about the food and service plus we got to brag about our little herd of pups. Sat in this place for 20 minutes. Three servers ignored us. And we had other patrons around us being helped. Two men took a table next to us after we had been waiting 15 minutes already and a server beelined it to them, gave them waters, got them beers, and menus while continuing to ignore us completely. I have never ever in my 51 years gotten up and walked out of an establishment, but we did today: Went Nextdoor to the Taphouse and we were immediately helped.
