One sentence review: Either you love them or you hate them, but to me this is an average sandwich shop that offers double the sub for twice the price.
Service was ridiculously slow even though we were the only people in the restaurant in the afternoon. The woman who took our order was really unfriendly, and talked my husband out of ordering a calzone because she said it would take too long. She wasn't rude or unprofessional, just really grumpy. But despite that it took over 20 minutes for us to receive our food-- a regular basic Italian and a toasted philly cheese steak. The entire time we waited the workers were yelling at each other in the kitchen about car payments or disagreeing about what type of meat was in a bag of cold cuts. It was odd to watch/hear 5 people in the kitchen just hanging out acting like they were on break while we were sitting there in front of them waiting for two basic grinders.
We took our subs home and I found mine was wrong [hots and onions that I had asked to not have], but I know that happens sometimes and picked them off, but I was a little irked because my order was very simple, the restaurant was not busy, and I had placed it in person so there shouldn't have been a mistake.
Some people love this sub shop, but I am not one of them. Aside from the incorrect toppings, I just didn't like the sandwich, probably because it was filled with a solid 2 inches of meat. There was nothing technically wrong with the sandwich I got, but it just tasted like salt and nothing, and I ended up eating less than half and throwing the rest away. Usually I will save the rest of a sub for later, but the idea of eating it again grossed me out. My husband also didn't like his, and I believe he also chose to feed it to the dog instead of saving it for later.
This place is famous for its large subs and I agree, their subs are double the size of what I'm used to. But the company also charges around double the price of what I would pay for a standard sized sub (around $20 for a giant/full size), so I'm not sure it's actually a great deal? Especially since half of mine wound up in the trash anyway.
Maybe I came in on an off day, but with the price and the unpleasant service and the taste, I'd rather grab a sub from any old pizza place in town than...

If you find yourself in Windsor Locks, thereâs one culinary destination that you absolutely cannot miss: H&M Pizza. This charming eatery has redefined my expectations of pizza and grinders, offering an experience thatâs both delightful and memorable.
Letâs start with the star of the showâthe steak and cheese grinder. I can confidently say it is the best grinder in the world! Iâve had my fair share of grinders in Philly, where theyâre often regarded as the pinnacle of this beloved sandwich. However, H&Mâs version takes the crown with its perfectly seasoned steak, melted cheese, and fresh, crusty bread that holds everything together in a harmonious embrace. Each bite is a symphony of flavors that dances on the palate, leaving you craving more.
My wife, a devoted fan of their tuna, often finds herself ordering just thatâpure, unadulterated tuna. Itâs a testament to the quality and freshness of their ingredients that she can forego the variety on the menu to indulge in this simple dish. The tuna is flavorful, creamy, and impeccably crafted, showcasing H&Mâs commitment to excellence.
And letâs not overlook the pizzasâthey are nothing short of phenomenal. The crust is the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, providing a solid foundation for an array of toppings that are fresh and vibrant. Whether youâre craving a classic pepperoni or something more adventurous, each pizza is crafted with care and passion.
The atmosphere at H&M Pizza adds to the overall experience. Itâs welcoming and warm, making you feel right at home the moment you step inside. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional.
In summary, H&M Pizza in Windsor Locks is a culinary treasure that combines exceptional quality with a welcoming atmosphere. Whether youâre there for the best steak and cheese grinder youâll ever have, a delightful tuna dish, or a slice of exquisite pizza, each visit promises to be a feast for the senses. Highly...
Read moreI called to pick up my order and yes everybody's right the guy over the phone is rude. They only accept cash that was an inconvenience as I never have cash.
