The overall experience was okay. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. The wait was quite long, which is understandable on a weekend morning. But there was a lot of confusion. There is a hostess, but she didn't really do anything but stand there. There were 30 people waiting to be seated. Standing room only. So, they were taking names to have people wait for a table. But it was people from the kitchen who were running orders, taking names for a waiting list, AND they were the ones sitting people. The hostess just stood there. Where were the servers? What was the hostess's purpose if the kitchen staff was doing all this work? Anyway, 40 minutes later we sit. Only to find a sign on our table saying to pay up front. There were still well over 30 people waiting to be sat down. Again, we understand it being busy on a weekend but it was a bit crazy to have to go back through that crowd to pay a bill. We were sat by one person, an order was taken by a different person, our food was brought to our table by yet another person, and our bill was dropped off again by someone different as they took our plates. It was super confusion and really didn't have a personal feel at all. The food was okay, nothing great. The operations of this place during our visit was nothing that would make us want to return. Also, another thing I had noticed is when I had used the restroom, it was filthy, but as well, super tiny. If you are reliant on a wheelchair or a walker, forget about using these facilities. The restaurant itself was very dim lit. Not sure if they just keep most of their ceiling lights off or if they don't work, but it makes navigating down the aisles and down the restroom hallway difficult if you have trouble seeing...
Read moreThis place came well recommended by my in-laws (who live in town) for a great breakfast. We had about a 5 minute wait for a table, which wasn’t bad. My wife pointed out that there were quite a few chairs in the waiting area, perhaps a good sign? Anyway, we were seated and the waitress took our order inside 5 minutes. MANY different menu options. I chose the Reuben omelet with a side of grits, just because… It was probably the best Reuben omelet I’ve ever had. BIG chunks of corned beef that crumbled in my mouth - perfect flavor. The Swiss cheese and kraut both made their presence known and the drizzle of Russian dressing did not overpower the other ingredients. I loved how all of the individual flavors of the ingredients were distinguishable from each other and not all mushed together. A thoroughly enjoyable omelet! A note about the grits. Firstly, grits aren’t a common menu item I in New England. I’ve been to places where it was served luke warm (at best!) but that wasn’t the case here. They do grits good! When it’s All said and done, I loved everything about this place. Good food, good service and atmosphere....
Read moreBased on all of the good reviews, we decided to drive the 45 minutes to try the breakfast. I noticed that Challah French Toast was on the menu so I was super excited. The place was packed (Sat morning around 9:30 AM) but the wait was only 5 minutes. Comfortable seating and the owner Jason was hard at work seating people. We live in a town where there are numerous small town breakfast places, as well as a Cracker Barrel but I really wanted to try this place. The breakfast did not disappoint. The Challah French Toast was sooo delicious, as well as the Chorizo. Our waitress was exceptional (I didn't catch her name but she had black hair and informed me of the correct pronunciation of Challah - thank you!! :). The owner, Jason, came around checking on people to see how everything was. Really personable guy and clearly humble enough to be working alongside his staff. Definitely can't wait go back soon! I use reviews to guide me on where to eat, where to stay, where to go, etc. and these reviews are clearly honest reviews. This place...
