Authentic food building impeccably clean and clearly well staffed. Most are friendly. Waitress has zero sense of urgency and zero customer service skills. Perhaps today just wasnt her day. She was visibly overwhelmed by the size of her section. Our visit tonight is by far the worst we've recieved here. Everything was great when still brand new. Today not so much. We understand the dynamics have changed due to pandemic. However we dont understand how we were treated. Our food was not rang in at time it was taken. When incomplete order finally got to the table the server and expo stood and stared through kitchen door rather than completing order. Our server never came back to offer refills fresh chips, dips or to even check on accuracy of order but taste of food. Once hostess made server aware we wanted a manager AFTER we paid she refused to bring check or come back to table. WE WANT NO HAND OUTS WE WANT TO BE TREATED RESPECTFULLY, AFTER SERVING OTHERS EVERYDAY. Magically the hostess became the manager while the real one hid behind wall with our server. Very nice dining area, and wasn’t busy. Went on a Thursday, early evening, so not quite typically dinner rush time yet. Wanted to try as recommended by someone (we’re new to the area). Had tried another night but there was absolutely no parking available - AND FOR GOOD REASON! Food and drinks are awesome! I’ve never really tried ceviche elsewhere because it was typically just white fish, but THIS place does it with shrimp and it was so refreshing! Husband had the Burrito California Texas - he usually asks for at least Cholula anywhere we go, but he said this didn’t need it, it was that good! We had a margarita and a sangrita - I was iffy on trying as I usually do a sangria, but this was great flavor The only “eh” was our daughter’s kids meal nuggets, she wasn’t impressed that it was Dino nuggies, but she’s also on that pre-teen cusp of being between kids meals & grown up meals, so not counting that against them. All staff we encountered was friendly and smiling ☺️

My daughter and I have a dinner date every Tuesday and we typically go to Plaza in downtown Suffolk. After numerous people recommending El Rodeo to us we finally caved after having a not so pleasant time last week at Plaza. There was a little bit of a wait which is odd for most mexican restaurants around here and there wasnt a lot of parking which was honestly a good sign to us. We were seating and immediately brought the chips and salsa and white sauce. The white sauce was delicious and our food was great. We had great service until it was time to pay and leave which is why I took 1 star away. After 15 minutes of not seeing our server, my daughter went up front to ask if someone could get our bill for us so we could pay and leave.
