Sammy's Pizza & Restaurant - Winona — Restaurant in Winona

I visited Winona to go to an indoor skateboard park but it was closed and I was hungry. I ran across Sammy‘s Pizza and restaurant. I felt at home the moment I walked in. I ordered the lunch buffet. I was given a drink, and told to return to the counter, if I would like a refill. I sat down and went to the buffet and I was there for pizza, but they had a little bit of everything, a salad, some chili and even dessert. I had a couple slices of pizza. I had roasted chicken I had a bowl of chili and I had their apple and blueberry pizza dessert concoction. Pleased with everything. I read a note that they had in each table that they have 1/3 the staff they’ve had since Covid. It made me even respect them more because they’re Mom and Pop small business trying to make his meet. I think they have done an awesome job with the way they have emanated the place. I think it’s OK not to have servers and for us to serve ourselves. I will be returning to this place, and I will tell others to come here too. I drive from La Crosse Wisconsin. I would drive here just to eat. I would give them 10 stars if I could. The quality of food and ingredients was much better than I’ve ever anticipated. I want to thank you for your service, and I left with a smile. I could not hardly fit another bite in my mouth. Because I was so stuffed I could not leave without having another bite. I haven’t had to go get another refill to wash down everything I had eaten, and to take another look at where I was and remember. This place and environment made me feel like I was at home. This is not a normal feeling for me lately because I have actually been homeless the last three years. I would proudly spend my money here again in the future I hope to be able to return again soon. Until then keep up the great work and I hope you survive these crazy...

Our waitress forgot to put our order in. When I asked about our cheese curds we could tell she'd forgotten. We waited an hour and a half for our pizza. When we complained about it taking a long time, she took off two drinks and the curds, about $13. Our remaining bill was still $ 29 for a 14 inch two topping, which was supposed to be $3 off, but our waitress forgot to take that off too. I asked to speak to the manager and she refused to talk to me. She said Dan would talk to me. Dan quickly put his head down and continued making pizzas. What a great way to deal with a problem! Very poor customer service! They were slightly busy, but I managed a pizza place for many years and would never treat a customer like that. Everyone makes mistakes, but every employee in that place deserves a poor rating. Curds were generic and bathrooms were really disgusting. Pizza tasted good, but we were all very hungry, so cardboard would've tasted good at that point. Don't waste your time or money...

Good pizza but the staff and service really needs an overhaul. I ordered 2 pizzas that totaled $54 for delivery at 6:00pm and told them I needed them at 7:45pm because my break was at 8:00pm. The pizza didn't arrive at the expected time. At 8:10pm I called them and the person taking the order said "we are busy, there's nothing I can do for you. " I told him I put in my order two hours ago to avoid this but he just hung up on me. 8:36pm my pizzas arrived. I told the delivery driver that I wanted a discount because my break is already over so I couldn't even eat the pizza that is almost an hour late. She refuses. She was very rude and disrespectful. I told her if there's no discount for late/cold pizza then I didn't want it. She walked back to her white ford mustang and left. Never ever...
