Root Beer Stand — Restaurant in Winslow

Was told this place is good well I guess it was back in the day but it is trash now I'm not being hard on this place it was horrible all the food you can find at Walmart in the freezer section then deep fried and served to you like you couldn't do better at home I waited for our food bought a soda a large Dr Pepper they filled it completely to the top with ice when I asked for a refill because it was barely a quarter of a drink giving all the ice the kid at the register said, "yeah refill, $1.99 ." I looked at him like dude you just filled my entire cup up with ice you take off the lid and it's to the brim with ice cubes and you're going to try and charge me $1.99 the chili taste like corned beef hash which is odd. Me and my two sons ended up spending close to $40 for a Dr Pepper a corn dog a small chili cheese fries and a large root beer float oh and a generic hamburger that tastes like you made it in the backyard to hurry up and feed your guests so they can leave was so disappointed because this place was hyped up by a few people here I guess no accounting for Taste they just used to eating garbage because it's one of the only places around that's different from a McDonald's I wouldn't recommend this place whatsoever it is the plainest generic place in town and I'm not being a jerk I'm just being real I was totally disappointed just walking in no decorations two colors plain as can be no music playing literally the most visually boring place you can have a meal in Winslow felt like it was a cafeteria at a hospital kind of vibe I honestly wouldn't eat there again if you paid me. I have been a customer for 20 years and never was i disappointed like i was tonight. We purchsed the family chili cheese fries and like always we take it home to enjoy with the family but tonight didnt go that way. We arrived home 15 mins after getting our order and dug into the chili fries and we noticed the fries were hard and stale , didnt taste fresh and we figured the workers would be friendly and replace our food but no we called and spoke with 2 different people and they stated since we took the food home we weren't able to exchange it. So we ended up having to make our own dinner very dissapointed and will no longer be going back. We were passing through the area on our way to the meteor crater and stopped for a quick bite and were really glad we did. This is a little mom 'n pop kinda place. They are only doing car side service due to covid, but the car hop will come get your order and bring your food. The burgers and chicken fingers were both simple but good, and the prices were very reasonable. The French fries were so-so, and I honestly preferred plain to the chili cheese or cheese fries. The real star of the visit was the craft root beer, which was creamy with a hint of vanilla and not too sweet. I had a float and loved it.
