The La Perlita Tacos Y Restaurante Experience (Walk-in Edition). So on this day, I wanted roasted chicken or fajitas for lunch. Once doing a google search La Perlita showed up. I have had some of the best-seasoned roasted chicken in Mexican cooking-style restaurants before, so I was excited to try them out. Although I thought about eating fajitas after seeing pictures of roasted chicken, I knew I was ordering that at La Perlita.
So, once I arrived and entered the restaurant, I was spoken to in Spanish. Unfortunately, I have subpar Spanish skills, so I said hello in English. Then, someone who spoke English took my order, and I ordered their roasted chicken, served with bread, refried beans, sour cream, lettuce, and avocado. Instead of beans, I ordered rice. My order did not take long, and I walked out in no time.
Once ready to eat, I could tell this food was the real deal. You get corn tortillas with your plate and lots of them. In addition, you receive a nice portion of food. However, I expected the chicken to have more flavor, be tender, and easily pull from the bone. Instead, I found the chicken hard to pull off the bone and did not taste as good as it looked. The rice had a good flavor, and the corn tortillas could have used more salt. The red and green sauce served with the plate added a nice touch of heat and flavor to the chicken.
So would I revisit La Perlita? I would give them a try again. While waiting for my food, I saw an order of their fajitas coming out. They looked so good, but I know looks can be deceiving hence my plate. However, I believe in giving local restaurants a try. The customer service was good, and I honestly got an authentic vibe while there. Although my Spanish is shabby, I felt welcomed and not...
Read moreWe ordered food from La Perlita (using Grub Hub delivery) on two occasions within the same week.
The first time was okay. Pros: The ACP was a lot of tasty food for a very fair price. The pico de Gallo was fresh. Cons: The carne asada was a bit dry and lacking seasoning in the carne asada plate; the beans were just okay; and the rice was disappointing. The chorizo tacos would have been great if they weren't so spicy and a bit dry. There were no tortilla chips and salsa included with the order.
The second time was even more disappointing. Pros: The food was delivered pretty quickly. The ACP and ACC were both pretty tasty. Cons: The amount of food in each container this time was literally half what we received the first time for the ACP. The pico de Gallo was old and sad. We paid extra for refried beans, but what we got was a serving of a few (literally like 4 or 5) beans in a LOT of bean sauce/gravy/soup. We did not get tortillas, nor did we get tortilla chips and salsa.
This is the first Mexican place we have ordered from and did not receive tortillas with the ACP and ACC plates. Also this is the only Mexican restaurant of which we are aware that does not include complimentary tortilla chips and salsa with their orders.
We wish them the best, but we will not likely order from here...
Read moreMy husband I loved coming to this restaurant/tienda. We (Used to) shop here a couple of times a month. Today we were refused service for not wearing a mask. The cashier that told us to leave got about 2 feet in front of my face, removed her mask, and said, “No mask, no service.” I have been discriminated against for not wearing a mask and, I feel like, for the color of my skin. Employees there and other customers were not wearing their masks properly. I have a medical condition that is aggravated by wearing a mask. We were just told to leave. No one took the time to see what we needed or ask us to wait outside while the order was fulfilled. Online ordering is not an option here. Needless to say, we won’t be back and are considering hiring...
