My family and I went to eat here today. We were extremely disappointed. The lady who checked us in at the door had an attitude, when she claimed she had just called us after I asked her if she had called our name. When we got our seat the lady that waited on us was rude and rushy. She took our drink orders, dropped off our drinks, and left without a word. Then she came back and asked us what we were having. While looking at the menu, we had a few questions in which she answered with an attitude and then closed her book and told us she would give us a few minutes. She didn't ask us if we needed a few minutes more or if we needed any help nor asked us if we had any additional questions. When we finally got ready to order, we had to call her back over to let her know we were ready instead of her checking on her own will to see if we were ready to order. She took our order and stopped me rather abruptly in the middle of me giving her our order to tell me to slow down. I have never has this issue at any other restaurants. Our cheese sticks came with meat sauce?? I have never in all my years of ordering cheese sticks had a meat sauce served with cheese sticks. Then when our food came out, our server checked on us half way through the meal, which then it seems like her rude attitude towards us started to change. Close to the end of the meal, my daughter was eating her spaghetti in which she finally got to to middle if the spaghetti and it was cold! I asked for the manager and the manager took the meal off the bill after giving us a completely unacceptable reason as to why her spaghetti was cold ,also blaming us for not telling them in a timely manner. She just got to the cold part of the spaghetti and blaming us!! What happened to making the customer happy?! Even the server thought the excuse the manager gave was unacceptable!! Then when it was time for us to check out ,there was no smile. The lady ringing up the bill did not even ask how every thing was. I am extremely disappointed at the way the staff in this restaurant treats their customers. None of the staff seemed happy. No one had a smile on their faces, never heard a laugh out of that restaurant. It seemed like the white customers were getting better treatment than we were. They seem racist along with the fact that they don't want to accept responsibility for their actions of the food not being up to par. WE WILL NOT...
Read moreThere must have been a change in cook or staff or something. I moved back on this side of town a couple months ago and was excited to have this restaurant back near me. At first was so good as I remembered. Then order started being over cooked or just wrong. Mind you we have ordered at least once a week since October. About a month ago started seeing a change in quality. Last week my sons shrimp was so burnt he couldn’t eat it. It almost looked like a bunch of left over shrimp put into one order. It was nasty. This isn’t the first complaint in the last month. But that one really upset me. It was nasty and should have never been let out the door. Then today I called in an order Ann’s got to my car and thought my bag seems light and that total didn’t seem right and my husband plate had been left out. I went back in to be told I didn’t order that item I ordered one similar. I said I ordered both. She said oh well I didn’t hear that order. It was the middle order so how you going to hear the first and last but the second? She said I can have it made. I said I don’t want to wait 20 more minutes for it. I mean by then my other food would be cold and nasty when I got home. So my husband had no dinner. She seemed to care less so I just walked out. Got in my car disappointed again but thought I will just share with my son or half my sandwich with my husband and order a pizza. I had not had a lunch today at so was starving and it was 5:00. Got home and I thought I will just eat half and order a pizza. That was the worst chicken philly I have ever ate in my life. Hardly any chicken. I was so upset. I’m Normally not a big complainer but I work hard for my money and I am so upset with their service and quality in the last month. I don’t think I can eat there anymore. My advice to the restaurant all employees should read an order back to confirm accuracy as all orders should be checked for quality by a manger before allowed out the door... lastly what ever changed who ever left. Call them and pay them double to...
Read moreMama Zoe, Mama Zoe... I had an opportunity to taste the Fried Flounder plate with hush puppies, slaw, and baked potato from Mama Zoe Michael’s courtesy of my Auntie. I’m recovering from surgery and she brought me a plate. Usually I am not to enthusiastic about someone bringing me a plate from a restaurant that I have never tried myself, but in my current condition, I’m thankful whenever someone remembers that I need to eat!
Let me tell you something, I want to meet Mama Zoe! I need to give her a hug for this comfort food she makes, you hear me? That was the best dang flounder I have had in a long time! It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I usually don’t eat a lot of fried foods, but this wasn’t drenched in oil, and it tasted so fresh, like it was just caught. Having lived in Japan for three years, I know me some fresh fish! The quantity was amazing too. I ate off of that fish and two sides for three meals, literally. There were about 5-6 pieces of fish, a baked potato, and coke slaw. I love that the slaw was in a separate container too, instead of slopped into the little side compartment of the takeout tray, like some restaurants do. When they do that it makes the slaw juice go everywhere. Mama Zoe knows better and does better.
Everything would have been perfect if I had had a few more hush puppies though. Those things were tiny pieces of golden brown heaven, so naturally I wanted about ten of those, but I had maybe 3. I still give the restaurant 5 stars in my book, no need to punish them because I’m greedy. LOL When I looked at the website menu, I saw that the flounder meal only cost $10.50. They have an extensive menu and everything else seems reasonably priced as well. I cannot wait until I can drive and get to Mama Zoe Michael’s to have an in-person experience myself. There’s so much deliciousness to try! If you go by, I highly recommend the fried flounder. Tell them...
