My wife and I recently dined at Shomar’s, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. We decided to take advantage of the pleasant weather and sat on their inviting outdoor patio, which added a relaxed and charming vibe to our meal. The ambiance outside was perfect—breezy, comfortable, and just the right setting to enjoy a leisurely lunch. The staff was warm and attentive, making us feel welcomed the moment we arrived. I opted for Shomar’s famous fish sandwich, which came highly recommended, and paired it with their rice pilaf. Let me say, the fish sandwich lived up to its reputation! The fish was perfectly cooked, boasting a golden, crispy batter that gave way to tender, flaky white fish inside. The sandwich was served on a soft, toasted bun with a tangy house-made sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The portion was generous, leaving me satisfied but not overly stuffed. The rice pilaf was a fantastic complement—light, fluffy, and subtly seasoned with a hint of herbs that added depth without overpowering the dish. It was clear that the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care. My wife chose the gyro platter, which came with a side of fries and a Greek salad. The gyro was a standout, featuring tender, thinly sliced meat packed with savory, well-seasoned flavor. The pita was soft yet sturdy, holding up perfectly to the generous filling, which was topped with a creamy, garlicky tzatziki sauce that was simply divine. The fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right—a classic side done to perfection. The Greek salad was a refreshing highlight, with crisp cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, red onions, Kalamata olives, and a generous crumble of feta cheese, all tossed in a zesty vinaigrette that brought the flavors together. It was the perfect balance of tangy and fresh, making it an ideal side for the hearty gyro. What impressed us most was the consistency of quality across the board—every dish was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The outdoor seating added a special touch, allowing us to soak in the pleasant atmosphere while savoring our meal. The service was prompt yet unobtrusive, with our server checking in just enough to ensure we had everything we needed without interrupting our conversation. Overall, Shomar’s delivered a memorable dining experience that left us eager to return. Whether you’re craving a hearty sandwich or a flavorful Mediterranean-inspired platter, this place has something for everyone. We highly recommend Shomar’s for anyone looking for delicious food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’re already looking forward to...
Read moreI should have been here sooner than today but I finally had the experience of Showmars. Impressed is an understatement. Let's start with the amazing young woman that was inputting orders. Inviting and in a positive mood. Patient she was because I was unsure what I was in the food mood for. I decided on my default in regards to such an establishment, Gyro platter with fries and a Greek salad. Next, as I awaited my food to be cooked to order. I met a very down to earth kitchen staff member "Anthony" we spoke to one another as if we've known one another for years. Anthony's energy, customer service and overall attitude was top notch. To have such an employee such as Anthony, Showmars should be beyond grateful. Such a positive asset to this company. Next, my Gyro platter was brought to my sitting space, photogenic surely. I took my time, enjoying my afternoon meal indulging in the freshness of my choice within the wide variety of menu. Just about finished, another customers meal was brought to their area. I was curious what it was as it smelled and looked worthy of making room in my stomach. It was a baked potato soup I believe? The awesome cashier asked if I would enjoy a sample and yes of course I would so she was kind enough to give me such. The following as well was simply great. I will definitely keep this option in mind for a future visit. Lastly, the wonderful slender, taller young woman with braids upon her hair today was extremely joyful with a beyond bright smile placed on her face illuminating the room. She also made sure to check upon all dine in guests, assuring all was to their likeness. She was also handling curb side orders and tending to other in house duties. She was truly working hard and didn't seem to be phased by multi tasking one bit. This woman needs a raise for all of her hard work. She was lovely to say the least. Thank you to herself as well as all of Showmars Winston Salem, North Carolina. I appreciate the...
Read moreThe Showmars Experience (Online Order/Pick-Up Edition). I remember passing Showmars a couple of times when visiting Charlotte, NC, so I thought I would try them since they have opened a location in Winston Salem. So I went online and ordered the Greek Salad with Chicken: made with romaine, iceberg, and spring lettuce mixed with Kalamata olives, feta cheese, pepperoncini, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions. I also ordered Baklava, a classic Greek pastry made with layers of phyllo, honey, and nuts. Lastly, I ordered the Baklava Cheesecake.
The system provided a seven-minute pickup time for my order. Once arriving, I went inside to check out the scenery. It appeared nice if I ever wanted to eat inside. Unfortunately, my order was not ready for pick up, although I was well over the time provided. I sat at a table and waited for my food which was not too long once sitting down. Once back at my location to eat, I felt like the food was ok. The chicken was ok but not marinated like the local Greek restaurant's but decent for a chain establishment. The desserts were good. I enjoyed the Baklava and the Baklava Cheesecake.
So would I go to Showmars again? I will revisit them but get something different. On my next visit, I would like to try their fish selection. The seafood items on the menu looked good. However, I don't believe I will try their Greek dishes such as gyros, souvlaki, or pitas; instead, I can go to a local Greek spot for those things. The desserts are tasty at Showmars, so I would like to try the Baklava and...
