Salem's Fresh Eats — Restaurant in Winter Haven

We visit the area once a month and we look forward to coming to this place. It has always been well or if there are mistakes, they are rectified immediately. Today was a different story. The order was taken missing and the so called "manager" blamed us as we didn't check the receipt. We ordered calamari and the portion compared to the price is insane. When I asked the "manager" she said that she doesn't put the prices and the portion is 8 oz. What an answer. This in my opinion is tooo overpriced. We ordered chicken Gyros and the chicken was crunchy meaning it was undercooked. I did not mention it to the so called "manager" as I gave up on her when I called earlier and just decided to hang up as all the errors were our responsibility. The fried chicken sandwich was soaked in oil. The grilled chicken sandwich was Fantastic. The fish platter was fantastic. They forget to put the sauce for the overpriced calamari. It took us 15 minutes on the drive thru window for our order to be complete. This poor girl on the drive thru is trying her best but no body is helping her. I will probably never come back to this place unfortunately when there are managers like this that run it. I did not catch her name but she should learn the basics of managing a fast food place. Fighting, arguing and blaming the customer for an error is not acceptable. There are a million other places that would love our business. YES I CALLED INCASE YOU TELL ME TO CALL AGAIN. I had a positive review before on this place and now unfortunately I have to put this. Its a shame that a brand like this is run by so-called managers who do not know the basics of running such a great place like this and instead of getting more business and providing great customer service, they chase customers....

UPDATE SINCE BUSINESS ORIGINALLY RESPONDED A WEEK AGO** Went by today hoping that service would be better. But to my disappointment when I got to the speaker to order whoever was on the register said “go ahead with your order”. No hello, please, thank you, no manners at all at this location except for a younger Caucasian woman who is usually at the window and is sweet and always goes above and beyond. As a woman of color it pains me to make that distinction of race but she’s the only White person I’ve seen working there, so I figured it would be easier for management to know who I’m speaking of . Give her a raise and lose the ones who’s playing with your brand and business. Needless to say, after no greeting and a command of “go ahead with your order”, I used my manners and said “no thank you” and went next door. My family and I ordered in the drive thru this evening. We frequent here often and the service is usually good. Today, whoever was taking the order did not say hello or any greeting. Just a “order when you ready”. The same lady then took my money and handed it back without even a “thank you” or a “you’re welcome”, even when I used my manners to say “thank you”. Then another woman handed us our food with tartar sauce, ketchup and other random sauces we never asked for but when we specifically asked for a second cocktail sauce she said it was $1.25. I’ve included pictures of the one cocktail sauce we got. How can that be worth anything past 50 cents? She was nasty, rude, and annoyed because SHE obviously doesn’t like her job. If you’re craving fresh, hot, and flavorful fast food, Salem’s in Winter Haven, FL is the spot! My husband and I had a fast food date night where we sampled a variety of their offerings, and let me tell you—it exceeded all expectations.

The Philly Cheesesteak with Extra Cheese was surprisingly SUPER seasoned and well balanced! Excellent sandwich. The Garlic Parmesan wings fried hard were perfection, packed with bold flavor and a satisfying crunch. The Lemon Pepper wings fried hard? Just as amazing, with a zingy, savory punch that kept us coming back for more. But the real star? The fried shrimp with their tater sauce—and this is coming from someone who doesn’t even care for sauce! Their tater sauce is so good it deserves its own bottle. The shrimp were fresh, clean, and fried to golden perfection.

The staff was incredibly helpful, patient, and friendly, and the establishment was spotless. While it’s not the most traditional sit-down environment, for a “big back” married couple like us who wanted to savor every bite without sharing with the kids, it was absolutely perfect!
