I needed a place to take my 5 kids and elderly family friend with dementia to get lunch. I stopped here because all of us like Greek food and we had never tried it before. Once we got in it was clearly mostly a take-out place, but it did have plenty of seating for us and we pushed together a couple tables. The menu options were a fantastic variety of yummy Greek food with varieties of desserts that sounded irresistible. There were no paper menus, but a very large TV above the counter. My friend was not able to stand long enough to look at the menu so we took a picture and she used my daughters tablet to look over it. In the end we ordered a kids meal fried macaroni and cheese with sweet potato fries, vegetarian platter, a vegetarian stuffed grape leaf platter, a lamb sampler entre, spinach pie, mushroom pie, baklava covered in white chocolate, tiramisu, and baklava cheesecake (wow!).
Service The man behind the counter was patient. He helped me decide what to order. He probably waited for me to go back and forth to the table and talk to my friend for 10 minutes before we settled on our final order. In that process, my kids wanted to know what some of the meat was. He described it, but they were not able to tell if they would like it because it was spiced and they were afraid they would not like it. When I asked if they could sample the meat, he said yes and went in the back. It took him several minutes, but it turns out, he was grilling a sample just for them to try! I was taken back at his thoughtful service (and the kids ended up loving it). When they brought out our food they brought out extra plates when they saw we were sharing and they even brough extra flat bread and sauce so every one could have some (really so thoughtful).
Food The food was amazing. If I imagined traveling to Greece and visiting someone’s house, this is what they would serve. It was authentic, delicious, and appetizing. The kid's meal was so good my friend was eating it and complained when I gave it to my little one (lol). We all tried it and it was delicious! My favorite dish that I get at any Greek restaurant is spanakopita (spinach pie), theirs was excellent. But the spinach pie was even better; I think their spinach pie was one of the best foods I have ever tasted. The baklava was as good as the ones my parents special order from Tarpon Springs, FL and the baklava cheesecake was even better! The tiramisu was for my friend, so I cannot say my opinion, but she says it was clearly homemade and one of the best she’s had. On that note, her profession was a dietitian. Her passion has always been food and cooking. She was truly not only satisfied, but impressed with everything she tried. When we finished our food and packed up our left-overs, a lady came over to ask how we liked the food. I told her that their mushroom pie was probably one of the best foods I had ever tasted. She thanked me and asked me to write a review. The kids ask me to go back there every time we pass it now. I never have time to sit down and write a review, but I want to make sure people know how kindly we were treated in what is usually a very stressful situation for me (parenting my kids and my friend at a restaurant) and how amazing their food was. I highly recommend giving their food a try. And remember,...
Read moreThe Greek Eatery in the Winter Springs Town Center opened this year in January. Very casual with both dine in and take out. Family owned. The food is more Egyptian-Greek (just like you have Indo-Chinese or Tex-Mex). The owners are super friendly. You order at the counter.
My entree was All Lamb Mix (Lamb Chops, Lamb Kabob and Gyro Meat). It comes with rice and vegetables but I swapped the rice for a salad. I asked for all the lamb to be cooked medium and it was absolutely amazing! Served with garlic sauce. The herb mix and marination was just right! My favorite of all 3 were the kabobs. Tender and so flavorful!
Other dishes ordered to be shared family style were the Spinach Feta dip, Spanakopita, Mushrooms Pie and Baba Ganoush and a side of onion rings. Everything except the onion rings are freshly made in-house and so, so good!! The Spinach Feta and the Spanakopita were the stand outs. The onion rings, though cooked from frozen were good when paired with the garlic sauce for dipping.
Portions are huge!
Note, they do charge a 10% service / dine in fee. This is apparently not charged for take out. There is no mention of this service / dine in fee on the menu so I suggested to the owner that they have it written somewhere on the menu and remind the cashier to inform customers of the fee. No one likes to be surprised by this fee at checkout. We did add a generous tip on the total bill which already included the service/dine in fee.
We will be back and I can’t wait to devour the...
Read moreWe’ve seen this place while driving around the area, and we decided to stop in tonight to try it out…. And I wish we’ve been going here more! The food was fantastic! The family that runs that restaurant is very welcoming and nice. There was hardly a wait time for the food. The Spanakopita was DELICIOUS! I’m a huge fan in general, but there was something different about this one that I was in love with! It was mouth watering to say the least! We got the traditional Gyro and salad combo. That salad had the freshest veggies. Everything was crisp and delicious. The garlic tzatziki dressing was finger licking good! We made sure to use every drop! Mmmm now the Gyro! The meat was tender and packed with flavor. The homemade tzatziki was so fresh and gave a great zing to the gyro. Every bite I couldn’t wait to take another bite. It was so good! Cannot wait to go back and try more!! Oh wow… CANNOT forget to tell you about the baklava cheesecake…. I want to buy and entire cheesecake of this. Wow…. The honey and the nuts with the flakey phyllo dough on top too?! Yes please! We made sure to eat every morsel of that cheesecake. I am getting that...
