Decided on a late lunch and popped in to Ristorante Positano Authentic Italian in the Publix plaza in Winter Springs (434) Town Center. We were greeted by the owner and took a seat in the half booth/table. My husband asked about ordering a slice of pizza but it was not available (note for later). I ordered the appetizer- Melanzane Ripiene (stuffed eggplant with ricotta and parmesan, topped with fresh tomatoes) and the guys ordered one calzone and one stromboli. Mine was a 10 out of 10. He brought out each of us a piece of bruschetta. Delicious! The tomatoes were fresh and each delightful bite was a burst of flavor. Out came the meals and they were all very good. The stromboli and calzone both had sausage and pepperoni. Both guys remarked they were not greasy like so many places. My husband also added green peppers and onions to his calzone. Again, fresh. The owner then brought us a piece of cheese pizza cut in 3 pieces lengthwise. Wow- excellent! It was so good that we ordered a large to go! The guys gave the meal 10 out of 10. The calzone and stromboli were not as big as some places but had quality ingredients, the dough was excellent and as I mentioned not greasy. We also took some homemade cookies to go- not too sweet, just like an Italian cookie should be. Everything was prepared fresh. the sauce had great flavor, all the meats and cheeses were high quality and overall a very good experience! Add this to...
Read moreThis place is the real deal, they have amazing pizza and the crust was perfectly crisp yet chewy, with just the right char. The toppings I got, spinach, mushroom and pepperoni went together so good in every bite, bursting with flavor that tasted like love in food form. I swear I closed my eyes with every bite just to savor it a little longer. I’m from New York and this pizza definitely made me feel like I was having a slice back in the city.
What truly sets this place apart though, is the heart behind it.The owner and his staff are extremely friendly and experienced and provided such a great service and experience. You can tell the owner pours his soul into every detail, from the hand-tossed dough to delicious sauce and fresh toppings. Even the salad and dessert is spectacular and obviously very fresh as well.
My partner and I left with full bellies and even fuller hearts, already planning our next visit to try the a few other delicious looking choices on the menu. If you’re looking for more than just a meal and if you want a place that feels like a warm memory you didn’t know you had Postiano’s is it. I’m already counting down the days until I’m back, pizza in one hand and a smile from ear to ear. Five stars aren’t enough, this place...
Read moreMy wife & I discovered Positano's back when owner Salvatore Mandara had been at work for three weeks to get his new place opened. We live across the street and frequently walk by the location in the town center. The place looked rough then, with all kinds of remodeling and updating going on. In spite of all that, Sal welcomed us and prepared a table for us away from the mess. While the dining area was a work in progress, his kitchen was already fully on point. He prepared wonderful, authentic pasta bolognese and lasagna for us, along with to-die-for fresh breads and salads. Sal was also an engaging host, attentive and pleasant. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to have this outstanding Italian restaurant move into our backyard. We've been regular visitors ever since and have tried much of the menu, never finding anything we didn't like. If you like pasta, pizza and a genuinely caring proprietor, come...
