there are so many things that i can say about this location but its nothing short of spectacular. I grew up in Winthrop I remember when this location used to be a McDonalds long time ago and i must say the best thing to come into Winthrop is nicks place. I remember in middle school I would walk to nicks place with my friends and order a sandwich and sit down and eat. The food was always amazing the staff was always kind. Forward now many years later and i can honestly say the same thing all over again. Although ive grown up and moved away from Winthrop i always find myself coming back to get a nice hot and fresh meal. I now live in Beverly and i still will make the drive from time to time to go eat inside nicks! I’ve brought my parents my grandparents other family members my old manager and friends on many different occasions to nicks place because i know it wont disappoint when they order. Because i live far ive tried other nick’s restaurants that are closer to me but nothing compares to Winthrop not in ambiance and not in food so the trip is a must from time to time. Yesterday i was feeling a little home sick i missed spending time with my mother and grandmother so i decided to pick them up and take them to nicks. When i tell you the experience was nothing short of amazing i mean it. GABRIELLE was awesome we ordered our food and sat down and Gabrielle took care of us the whole time. She remembered me from previous times that ive been there she held up great conversation and brought our food out and treats to the table she made sure everything was neat and clean she was very attentive and kind it made the experience so much better. I seen her work at other tables too she gave the same energy all around. They have another woman who waits tables she is Albanian her name escapes me but shes great as well every time i go she treats myself and my family so kind its honestly a breathe of fresh air to get that kind of treatment. Now the food i ordered a fishermans platter and a lobster mac and cheese the fishermans platter never disappoints im so picky when it comes to fish like the minute it starts to taste “fishy” im done. The fishermans plate has never had that oder when ive ordered it its always tasted fresh and tasty. The lobster mac is my weakness i love mac and cheese and the tender lobster thats on it will leave your mouth drooling. The mac and cheese is definitely a shareable plate its very rich and creamy so you can be satisfied without finishing the whole thing. So i always have left overs to take home and trust it taste good reheated too! Ive ordered a bunch or different foods from them there is definitely something there for everyone the staff behind the desk works really hard and efficient you can tell the place is a well oiled machine. I normally dont leave this detailed of a review but i do believe this place deserves it again i been going here for years moved away and i still find myself coming back so its a well...
Read moreMy father received a gift card for Christmas from Nick Place in Winthrop. When he went to use it they told him the card is no good. He said what do you mean it’s not good, the card was never used. They said that card is really old, and we switched out our systems. They took the card from my dad and said we can research it for you and give you a call back. They never called us back. So about 2 weeks later we called them figuring they had enough time to look into finding out what the value is. I called there and spoke to “Nick, not the owner”, who said ya sorry we can’t figure it out. So I told him the strip is a little messed up but the number is perfectly clear on the card. His response to me is what do you want from me. Oh I’m sorry Nick, what do I want from you? I want you to research the card like you said you were going to do. Why should my dad be out the gift card amount that was given to him as a gift? And why should my family member be out the money they paid. I then told him I would be down to get the card, he told me he can’t release the card back to me because it’s no good. I told him it’s our property and you will give me back the card, it’s bad enough you’re already stealing from us the amount of the card, now you don’t want to give us the card back. Finally went there and spoke to the owner, who I’m pretty sure is the same person I was speaking to all along, even though he claims to be another Nick. And he said he tried to research it but they can’t figure it out, so what do I want from him. I said $100, he said I can’t do that, ok so then why ask. We know it’s at least $50 or $100. He said well I can’t give you $100 then I’ll be losing if it’s $50, I said ok but if it’s $100 then we are losing… so why is that ok. At the end of the day, I took a he card back and decided not to ever do business there again. Very poor customer service in my opinion. So the moral of the story is, do not buy a gift card from this business, you run the risk of losing the balance just because they cash them out after the card isn’t used for a long period of time! I’m pretty sure gift cards are considered like cash, if I lose it that’s on me. They don’t expire!!! Do...
Read moreIv'e been a long time patron of Nick's. From family parties, work meetings, our office constantly orders from there, probably weekly. I had a very bad experience. An order was placed online. When I went to pick it up, this young abrupt girl asked me the name. I answered it was ordered online, I said let me look at my phone for the number. "What's that going to do" she rudely snapped at. I told her the order number, before I could even finish saying the order number would be on it, "name" I told her what was ordered, again "name". Once she basically threw the food at me, I asked her if there was sauce in it. "I don't know, did you ask for it" such an ignorant tone. I immediately asked for a manager. He was saying the same "did you ask for it" simply told him I was just checking if it came with it. He turns around, grabs 2 & said "you should pay for this" I said ok. Didn't reply to that. Feeling also disrespected I asked for both his name and hers. I was told "For the safety of us we don't give out names" Safety lol I just wanted to call and try to speak to the owner. I guess by not giving a name, you can't speak to anyone else. The food has been going down hill. The prices up, quality and size down. You'll find people who praise the food of course, but you'll find many more of the LONG time customers questioning it. Seems like things such as pizza & calzones are always dry and overcooked. So now we must also deal with ignorant, abrasive, rude workers too. I guess people are right, Odyssey is the place in town to go to. All you praising Nick's, please try Odyssey Enclosed is a picture of the dark (over...
