I came here for an early breakfast on Saturday morning wanting a quiet place before the crowds came in. The staff was very loud discussing their 'mothers'. "I don't like when she does this; I don't like it when she does that," etc. I could hear everything for the entire 25 minutes I was there. I was very uncomfortable, ate my food in silence and left very quickly. Very, very unprofessional. Will not be back.
Edit: I can't seem to respond to the owner's answer, so I'll write my follow-up here.
The day in question was over summer 2024. It's been bothering me ever since, especially because I always pass this place on my way to Hi-Tide, which is another small business but the one I fully support and regularly patron. That's why I finally decided to leave a review.
I ordered a waffle (can't go wrong with that), a cheese-and-egg sandwich (a very small portion for the price), and hot coffee. Just your regular breakfast items. It all came out in a silver tray (interesting presentation). There's your food review.
Your support of your staff has nothing to do with the fact that when I was there they were criticizing their mothers for almost 30 minutes and because the space is so small every person in there could hear everything. There was also a family there with 2 toddlers at the same time. They heard it all as well. Nobody wants to hear that!! It's inappropriate and very unprofessional, just like your comment about my reviewing history, which is inaccurate and completely irrelevant. Don't just support your staff with big words online - train them better so they understand appropriate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally impressed by this place for its beverages and its accessibility.
Few places consider accessibility anymore, but they have a bar along the right side of their two stairs to get in, so I was able to pull up and lean on it!
Iām not sure if the āaccess at readā blue wheelchair sign applies to this buisness or the one next to it, but, if so, thatās another point from me.
I was also glad that they have hibiscus iced tea and stevia to sweeten it! I hate drinking caffeine all day all summer, but if Iām exploring and drinking fluids, thatās usually the only type of tea a cafe will have. Not so here! You have a caffeine free option!
They also have nutritious and tasty looking breakfast items and such.
The banging of the barista was a bit much for me. I donāt know why baristas donāt use the rubber mats on the edge of the stainless steel containers. Thats what theyāre there for: to mute the noise inside a relaxing cafe.
This is why I didnāt stay to eat. Every few seconds there was a bang bang bang to remove the espresso grinds.
Other than this, itās a delightful place. Closed Sundayās but open every other day 6-2pm or, Saturdays, 7-2pm.
Very close to the beach.
Free 15 min street parking out front.
My tea was a little...
Read moreI was in the area so decided to drop by. I got a dirty chai with coconut milk, for some reason it rang up as $10.63⦠which is obviously ridiculous for a drink but I was in a rush so I just went with it and added a tip. $12.22 was the total.
The actual drink was watery, bitter, and there was barely any coconut milk in it. I donāt usually make a fuss out of these things but i paid $10. I went back up to the counter and asked if I could get another drink since it was watery but the lady who rang me up looked at me with an attitude and explained to me thatās just how the drink is. But complied and I got a matcha latte with oatmilk.
After I ordered it I looked back at the drink menu and the dirty chai is actually about $6. Im pretty sure she charged me extra for the shots of espresso which doesnāt make any sense since it should already come with the drink?
Anyway, the matcha was the worst matcha latte Iāve ever gotten. Could barely taste the matcha and for some reason it tasted a little salty. If ya donāt know how to make a proper matcha, you really shouldnāt try. Itās just insulting⦠I really had to go so I just left. I havenāt tried anything else from the menu but that was...
