Monterrey’s Mexican Grill&Bar — Restaurant in Wise

Yesterday was my first time to try food from this restaurant. I was excited to finally find a restaurant in this area (an hour from where I live) that actually has tamales. I ordered by telephone and paid, including a tip. The first thing I did, before ordering, was ask if they really had tamales and the lady assured me they did. My daughter picked up the order on her way home from work (we live an hour away). She should have checked each meal, I guess, but she did not. The telephone ordering went fairly well. I ordered four dinners with three of them being the exact same thing, "number 8's." That is the beef enchilada, one tamal, rice and beans. When we opened the containers at home there were no tamales at all. There was what appeared to be a burrito and one foil wrapped taco for each of the three dinners that were given to my daughter as my order. The fourth dinner was correct. If what looked like a burrito was really the enchilada I will say I have never had an enchilada in a flour tortilla. I am a native Texan and have been eating Tex-Mex my entire life. Every enchilada I have ever ordered was prepared in a corn tortilla. I do not expect the food to be exactly the same but I have just never had an enchilada in a flour tortilla. Fair warning, the beef in the burrito/enchilada and in the taco was bland. I could not taste any traditional tex-mex seasonings of cumin, chili powder, paprika, garlic, onion, none of it. It just tasted like unseasoned browned ground beef. If you are seeking a traditional tex-mex taste this will not make you happy. The menu was honest about the beef enchiladas being in ground beef, not the traditional shredded beef, so that does not count in my evaluation in the least. Overall, I was very disappointed. My only reason for trying the food was for the tamales. I see no reason to order...

FOUND A ROACH IN MY FOOD. This use to be me & my boyfriends go-to spot. It's gone downhill ever since a new older man has been running it. Food is more expensive with no explanation, they never update the menu they just say "prices have increased" so you never know what they'll charge you. We just went to get our usual food order and I took exactly one bite of my taco, looked down and saw a baby roach on my plate. After seeing it we notified the waitress and obviously we didn't eat anymore, we both literally took one bite and stopped after seeing the roach. She said she would be back with our ticket. What ticket? For food with roaches in it? So we walked out, because we couldn't even eat the food. I have video evidence I will attach. It's such a shame because it used to be our go-to spot, now we will never eat...

sept 21 we visited food was 5 star. june 3 22 we visited food ws subpar slop over cooked meat under cooked prawns the red sauce was nothing but slop from a can straight chef boy ardee slop sauce you charge 80 dollars for our meal and it wasnt worth 8 dollars due to your lack of care for the orders here we DO NOT RECOMMEND eating here ever this food is at the point of roadkill jerky with nasty sauce the members of our group refuse to partake in any meals from your business and we WILL NEVER PROMOTE YOUR SERVICES as a food critic I personally rate your business o stars please take to heart this is an honest review and I will not give a higher rating for subpar refuge...
