I had an amazing experience the two times that I've gone to Yamato!
Before I speak on our meals let me talk about the service. Everyone is so friendly and sweet. They make you look forward to coming back! But the standout of the bunch was Christopher! I LOVE THIS GUY! He is so nice and goes above and beyond! Out of all of the dining experiences I have had since moving to this area 2years ago, This was the first time I felt like I belonged and my business was wanted!
My first experience was a takeout order. I ordered the Shaggy Dog Roll, an order of gyoza 🥟 and an order of calamari everything tasted great. My only compliment is that the "wrapping" of the gyoza was kinda like puff pastry and I wasn't really a fan of it.
The second and most recent visit was dine in! My wife and I tried the Shrimp Shumai 🍤 & Calamari for our appetizer. The shumai is AMAZING! I would have ordered 3 more portions if it were up to me 🤣. For our entrees we ordered the Hibachi Dinners I ordered the Steak & Shrimp and my wife ordered the Chicken & Steak! The meals were delicious. So tender and Juicy! The flavor was great. In fact so good that I ate all of my Zucchini & carrots and I NEVER EAT ZUCCHINI EVER! We ordered a side of noodles which were also great, and the meals came with salad and soup. My wife got the Miso Soup and I got the Onion Soup broth were so light and flavorful without being overwhelming. I've never used the word "REFRESHING" to describe soup until today but they were very refreshing. Finally for dessert we tried the fried Oreos. They were also good the dough wasn't too overbearing, it was actually a nice light crunch. Personally speaking, instead of having the whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top, I would have liked to be able to dip my Oreo in the cream and go without the chocolate sauce. Maybe instead do like a dusting of chocolate powder 🤷🏾♂️ ... But I digress, I'm rambling at this point lol.
Overall this place is amazing and I will definitely go back again before...
Read moreWe went with a party of about 13 people and had high hopes for the food. A waitress came to the long row tables and stood at the end of this long row... shouting to what people like to order...mind you this row of tables(3) was a long way apart. We was all a bit baffled about this way of taking orders. The drinks arrived and she handed all drinks to the person sitting on the end...really!?? We had to touch/reach and sort each diners glass to make it down the rows... After a while the food arrived and the same waitress stood there at the end of the table row and placed one plate after another in the same way, us touching and reaching each other's food plate down the row...she didn't bother to come around each diner to serve our plates!???? I have never experience such behavior of a waitress....needless to say, one full plate she placed on the front row( near a baby in the mother's lap went over the edge on the floor making a big mess...luckily the baby didn't get hurt!!! Finally eating, the food was less then mediocre, it all tasted like it's been cooked in a hurry with no taste at all. The final straw was when this waitress realized she made a mistake on 3 different tickets of our party...missing 4 drinks...she just added it to the last person paying...hoping it wouldn't be discovered!!! After confronting her she got abset and claimed we were wrong and denied a refund. As the manager was called in by us we proofed her wrong, she claimed it was already paid for because she run the card and couldn't do anything about a refund!!??? I think the last party spend about 20 minutes to Finally get reimbursed and could leave! A experience that NOT need to be repeated...we will never set a foot into this place...
Read moreMy first review (below) was 5 stars but after my visit a few days ago I'm forced to change it. I went in for lunch. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special and a steak teriyaki bento. The steak teriyaki barely tasted like teriyaki. Instead of being seared and sliced the steak was cubed, and instead of being seared, half the meat looked and tasted like it had been poached. All of the veggies were mushy and over cooked. The 3 roll special looked a little old. If I had been blindfolded, I would have thought that 2 of the rolls were the same thing, not very flavorful. The Wasabi was pretty mild as far as it's spice and when I mixed it with soy sauce there were little hard chunks in it. The server, Christopher, was nice and very personable. He said he had been there from the day they opened but that is a big mark against him because he should have known there was a problem with the food he served. I have high hopes for this restaurant and hope management reads this review.
Original review: Since we moved to Coeburn a year and a half ago, I've been trying to find a good Japanese restaurant somewhere in Wise county and it looks like I finally have. The atmosphere was serene and the service was absolutely fantastic, thanks to my server, Isaiah. He did a fantastic job helping me with some great sushi roll recommendations. He was very professional and made sure I had everything I needed for a great meal. The food was delicious and presented at the table beautifully. I would highly recommend Yamato...
