Worst experience from last several years. Today we purchased Dosa Masala, Plain Dosa with spinach, Idly and Cutlece. First we got Idly & cutlece, which were cold and one sambhar. Sambhar was totally yellow water with no taste, no salt, no spices.

Later we received two dosa with same two garbage sambhar, with no taste. We complained about sambhar. Owner lady said , it might be not mixed up properly. She gave another one, but it was same garbage sambhar. Then she said, she is making another sambhar, wait we will give you soon. For about 15-20 minutes, we didn’t get sambhar and she said, we are making it, we will give soon. We said when we will get new sambhar, our two dosas, idly are almost cold. How can we eat? How long shall we wait?

By this time, there were more than 2-3 other groups- more than total 20 customers had the same issues of that garbage sambhar. We all asked for the refunds.

Now you think twice before going here for your lunch or dinner. Do you want to pay and ask for REFUND?

We suggest, don’t think of Dosa Express,...

this used to b a good place to eat years ago, although the lady in the front was always rude. However, the last time I went there, the food was horrible, she did not even have enough courtesy to put the samosa away from the chutney. By the time I was tossed the plate (sorry "given") the samosa was already sogged up in the chutney. The masala in the dosa was rolled up in big ball in the middle of the dosa with all both sides completely hollow. The lady's attitude really needs to be better and respectful. I wonder if she is being forced to work there against her will or is not paid at all? Not sure what her deal is. But, it is really hard to go to a restaurant where you have to deal with someone like her before even seeing the food. You go to a restaurant to have peace of mind and relax. Her attitude and the mediocrity of the food only raises ur stress levels. Needless to say, I have not gone there after that horrible experience. I work hard for my money and I am not going to throw my money in a...

Absolutely agree with all of the positive reviews. Went there for the first time today and everything I got was amazing. It is a good idea to go in knowing what you want because everything is made fresh to order therefore it will take a little bit of time. The dosa is top notch. There are many to choose from so no the difference. You may be able to ask for an explanation but if you’re not familiar with Indian food do your research before you go. Expect everything to be a little spicy. There are no frills or fanciness to the place. You walk up and get your own napkins, cutlery, water after ordering. They will call out your number to pick up your food at the window. My favorite part was the planet friendly solution to refills on the Sam bar. Once you are done you walk up to the window and ask for a refill. Do not throw that container away if...

Visited this restaurant for the first time. The place looks nice and clean—very inviting atmosphere. The food? Absolutely amazing! I’d rate it 10/5 if I could. Especially loved the dosa—it was really delicious and full of flavor. However, the customer service was a letdown. All the employees looked upset or unapproachable, which made the experience a bit uncomfortable. No smiles, no warm welcome. Hopefully, they can improve their communication and service—it would make a huge difference. We ordered two items, and the total came to $34. While it’s a bit on the pricey side, the food quality makes it worth it. Would I come back? For the food—definitely. But I hope the staff’s attitude improves next time.

I used to go to Dosa Express, Parsippany for more than 6 years. It was a huge disappointment when they closed their Parsippany branch. But.. my wife and I went to this Dosa Express branch yesterday for the first time. I must say that we enjoyed the taste just like how it use to be. If you’re from Karnataka or ever want to taste an authentic Mysore or Karnataka style food; this is your place to visit. You’ll taste an authentic, homemade style food here. If you’re new and wondering what to have? Just blindly try anyone from their menu. You’ll be amazed. People who run this place are very friendly including the uncle who helps in keeping the tables clean. Don’t forget to try Holige/ Poli as a dessert.

Simple things done right should be the tag line for this South Indian food joint. The medu vada is crisp and light at the same time... dunked into their piping hot sambhar makes it the best thing to have for breakfast. The puliogre (tamarind rice) is tangy and packed with peanuts but was a little too spicy for me. The uttapam was all right not as good as their rava or paper dosa... So order one of those instead. The service is prompt and frill-free. I do appreciate that they give small portions of sambhar or chutney that they happily refill to limit the amount of food that gets wasted. A happy side effect is you have steaming hot sambhar throughout your entire meal.
