New Shan-E-Punjab — Restaurant in Woodbridge Township

This tiny little place doesn’t attract you with its decor or its ambiance, rather it tries to make its way with the food it serves.

I had a takeout order from this place and had a couple of items, chicken biryani and chana masala. The biryani was good and the chana masala had authentic taste. The portions are good and the price is in accordance with other similar sized restaurants.

The place is located right besides the street so parking isn’t in abundance and depends on the time of the day, but generally you’d find street parking so it wouldn’t be an issue. It’s a decent place to have takeouts and experience the food.

Alright, so I ordered a few more items from the menu and, spoiler alert, it was YUMMM. I had to try their bullet naan because it just sounded so fancy. I paired that with Achari chicken and something that I wanted to try from their vegetarian list called kaju kadai.

Let me just say that I was amazed at the curry for the kaju kadai. It was rich, smooth and creamy with mild punchy flavor and the crunchy cashew pieces (whole and half cut). Everything tasted great. The Achari chicken had the right amount of spices and flavor and had that little tangy punch to it. The bullet naan comprised of coriander and green chilli pieces and tasted absolutely superb.

Ok so this place is a secret no more. If you are in a rush - get this - Great Food -Great folks - they respect your time -Go for it! These guys are the King of Punjabi food in Edison/ Woodbridge area. The dishes are Outstanding in how they are perfectly spiced. They will ask you for levels and I have found Medium to be just right. Naans ( all kinds) are Excellent. The Kadai Chicken Ginger is Par Excellence. Have ordered this dish likely over 20 times now and ( they get it right every single time). My family’s other favorites here are the Desi Chicken Curry, Sarson da Saag ( litmus test for authentic Punjabi), Kadhi Pakodi, and then the usual favorites like Palak Paneer etc. Found Bhindi and the biryani to be tasty but too oily. I have visited this place several times vegetarian food is awesome service is incredible. Whenever I placed the order for dining I have noticed that I don't have to wait for my food it was quick staff is helpful. The owner of Shan e Punjab Mr Sonu is co-operative and soft spoken. One more member of this restaurant Mr Siraj he speak softly and take cares of our orders properly and he maintains good customer relations that I have noticed with many customers good customer service by Mr Siraj.
