Normally I'd be a little more reasonable between separating food and service, but the amount of attitude from the staff - top to bottom - was absurd. We made reservations for today (Mother's Day) weeks prior, and we and were told we had to wait 90 minutes beyond our 2:30 reservation. This was because they had to accommodate other guests for longer periods of time than expected and these same parties brought more guests than they originally said. Not sure how that's our problem, a group of ten from various parts of NJ, LI, and even NC, and after some back and forth of pointing that fact out, they prepared a table in the back by 3pm.
We will get back to that start time of sitting down.
After seeing more moms walk in with roses, I decided to get three for our table that we did not initially receive for our moms we were celebrating. I was told by the GM that I couldn't have any because, you know, it's not right for me to ask. He was overruled by his boss (the owner). Whatever, they had a bucket of 100 purposed for the moms but I guess we were already a pain for wanting to sit down at 2:30.
Food was good - everyone seemed to enjoy the appetizers, soups, wine and beer, dinners, and dessert. We opened gifts while eating dessert, amongst a wait staff who had an, how should I say, affinity for slamming plates and not cleaning up the other previously used dishes and silverware. We created nice stacks for them to help and keep the good time we were having celebrating the mothers.
Back to why 2:30 is important - owner came back to us AFTER PAYING the 800 dollar bill telling us we needed to leave because he had to turn 6 people away. Apparently he couldn't accommodate them after we had spent over "three hours" taking our time. It was our fault he said. You're all smart reading this - you do the math on how much time we were actually sitting there. Needless to say, 800 dollars gets you the proverbial verbal middle finger and the realization you're in a poser Italian establishment - because no real Italian restaurant would EVER throw guests out in such a manner as Casa Giuseppe
So we won't be back - I flew up from NC to spend time with my mom and have to sit here typing this in the first place because this restaurant could not figure out how to properly book a holiday rush. They know how to charge a ton of money, though, for the same holiday - and clearly were more focused on that than actually running a restaurant with class.
Happy Mother's Day on a side note to all those...
Read moreOnly giving 2 star because of an issue a few months back. Let me start by saying the food is excellent and I’ve never had a bad meal there. I have recommended many people go there because of the food and have always taken friends and family out to eat here when they are in town. It has a great atmosphere very relaxing and you never feel rushed. We normally go to Casa Giuseppe’s at least every other month but ever since we had an issue in May I haven’t gone back. We scheduled a party for my sons baptism in March for a Sunday after calling to ask if they would open for the party I was told they would open for a party of 50 or more. After booking and signing a contract and sending out invites for the lunch I was told that I had to guarantee 80 people. 80 people was how many we invited and when we sat down to sign the contract while talking to the owners wife she even said that would work perfect because normally get about 80% of the total people invited come which would of put us right where we were at 60+.This was the first time I was told about having to have 80 people and this was 10 days before the party. Nowhere on the contract did it say we had to have 80 people. So now 10 days before my sons baptism we were then told we had 3 options 1. pay for all 80 (which is the total we invited), 2. cancel the party or 3. get bottles of wine for the table minimum of 2 bottles per table at $30 a bottle minimum and I wasn’t allowed to choose the type of wine if I chose that option they would choose the correct prices wine. I took option 2 and found another place that worked out even better I wasn’t gonna do option 3 and drink 2 buck chuck at $30 a bottle. Obviously this isn’t something you want to deal with 10days before the party so because of that I give them 0 stars for service and 4.5 starts for the food. So if your looking for a good place to eat dinner this place is great but not...
Read moreGreat food, but terrible service!!! We went for dinner on Mother’s Day. Reservation was done 4 days in advance. When we get there we were told there were no tables inside, and so we were led to the outdoor seating. It was cold, but they did have heaters so we were fine. We sat for over 20 mins before they came to even ask us for drinks and appetizers. They were too busy with the other tables and basically ignored us. That was really special on a special occasion like Mother’s Day! After we ordered appetizers the older Hispanic waiter (tall with glasses) came over with our food. He knocked over the ice cold water on me, and then said “oh it’s only water!” Seriously? The table cloth was drenching and my clothes were wet. You can imagine as it was already cold and windy and then to just bring a few napkins and not even change the table cloth. My son did not like his entree as he thought it was bland and needed salt. He wanted red pepper flakes, but the young waiters couldn’t understand English, and brought cheese instead! The lobster ravioli was delicious and so was the linguini with shrimp. Towards the end my daughter asked to take hers to go as she had only eaten half of it. The same older Hispanic waiter comes back after a few minutes enquiring about what she had ordered because they apparently threw her leftovers in the trash. That was enough for us even though they made a whole new entree. We didn’t even stay for desserts or cappuccino as planned. No apology or complimentary dessert/coffee. Even though the food was good, but because of this experience on Mother’s Day we will not be going back. The waiter needs...
