Esteemed Diners,
It is with great enthusiasm that I recount my recent dining experience at the distinguished Sri Dosa Place in Edison, NJ, USA. A bastion of Vegetarian South Indian cuisine, this establishment has risen from humble origins over the span of a decade to now reign as one of the premier culinary destinations along Oak Tree Road. Such a journey, marked by culinary excellence, is a testament to the proprietor's dedication and the culinary artisans who craft each culinary masterpiece.
The symphony of flavors presented within the confines of Sri Dosa Place is truly captivating, with their Sambar proving a particular standout that beckons the taste buds with an irresistible allure. As one accustomed to the finest in gastronomic offerings, I found myself spellbound by the exquisite interplay of spices and textures that characterize the cuisine of Southern India, as adroitly presented in this very establishment.
In an era rife with culinary inconsistencies, it is indeed a rarity to find an establishment that steadfastly maintains its standards, and Sri Dosa Place stands as an illustrious example thereof. The unwavering dedication to quality is abundantly evident in the enduring patronage that graces its doors. This loyal following, garnered over time, speaks volumes of the consistent excellence found within these walls.
A true testament to the caliber of this establishment is the proprietor himself, Raghu, and his exceptional team. Their unwavering commitment to customer service is nothing short of remarkable, and it is with great satisfaction that I note, from the vantage point of my over 100 visits, the conspicuous absence of an unhappy patron. Such dedication to ensuring a superlative dining experience is indeed a rare treasure.
It is my ardent recommendation that all partake in the exquisite offerings found at Sri Dosa Place, tucked away off Oak Tree Road, at the corner of Route 27. The voyage through their menu is one that unveils a world of culinary artistry, masterfully presented within the framework of Vegetarian South Indian cuisine. May your own culinary odyssey be as gratifying as mine has been.
With warmest commendations and...
Read moreI have passed Sri Dosa Place millions of times but never really noticed it (being in the corner) until yesterday. Came here with my parents for a late Sunday dinner around 8 pm a few years ago (SO CROWDED) and waited about 15 minutes to be seated.
First off, the customer service is horrendous. I get it, it's fast food. But, if you're expecting the kind of service you would get at Khasiyat or Bombay Talk, you better lower your expectations because this place has subpar service. When my party of 3 was called, the table they placed us at had only 2 chairs and the table was still a mess. Why don't you clean the table first and make sure all the chairs are there? My dad stood for a solid 5 minutes and then had to call someone over to tell them that there's a chair missing as well as to clean our table. Then, when we got our menus, we waited another solid 5-10 minutes and yet AGAIN, we had to call someone over to tell them we're ready to order.
We ordered Sev Puri, Channa Masala Onion Chillies Dosa, Palak Paneer Masala Dosa, and Rava Masala Chili Dosa. When we asked our waiter how long this would take, he said "25 - 30 minutes" ....WHAT?! Then my mom said, "Sev Puri won't take long right?! It literally take 2 minutes to make that" and the waiter just smirked...lol what the heck.
Literally 25 minutes later, all of our food came out. Sev Puri was good but spicy. Dosas were good but not the best - Palak Paneer had shredded paneer almost looked like mozzarella cheese, Rava dosa was so hard to eat, and Channa dosa literally just had uncooked black channas in it (we were expecting cooked channa). Sambhar is unlimited which is cool. If you want to get more out of your wallet, I would suggest Monday Dosa Buffet when there's not a large crowd. I will not be back. There are much better places that serve delicious dosas with...

I recently visited Sri dosa place, and it was by far one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by how unclean the place was. The floors were sticky, the tables were visibly grimy, and even the menus looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in weeks. The restroom was equally appalling—filthy and utterly unhygienic.
As if the lack of cleanliness wasn’t bad enough, the service was mediocre at best. The staff seemed uninterested, and it took far too long for anyone to acknowledge our table. While the food was passable, it was hard to enjoy given the overall state of the establishment.
The icing on the cake? An enforced 18% service charge that was automatically added to the bill. Charging for service in a place that can’t even meet basic cleanliness standards is absurd. Gratuity should be earned, not forced, and certainly not in such an environment.
I left feeling not only disappointed but also ripped off. For a restaurant to charge a mandatory service fee while failing to provide even the bare minimum of acceptable standards is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless drastic improvements are made. Avoid it...
