OK first of all, I'm in an island boy that's cooked anything that can crawl, underground above ground you name it. I also was in the military down in Jax, so you can say I've had that southern comfort numerous times. But let me tell you about this… DADDY D's Style BBQ here in Woodland, WA, AMAZING! (Exit 21 on I-5) That hole in the wall look, decorated with family pictures, and pass barbecue events... even witnessed the family with the grandkids in the restaurant doing their homework! That made me feel like I was at home 💯🙏🏾 You will see it all only after being reeled in with that BBQ SMOKE SMELL on the block, we TALK'N BOUT THAT SOUTHERN LOVE IN THE NORTHWEST!!! Bout dam time!!! (Ive been missing out!) I had two meat dinner which included two sides. I chose the brisket, which is smoked daily, the fall off the bone sweet baby back ribs, with collard greens and red beans and rice, ohh mama there to die for!💯 Also includes two pieces of bread, which is needed to sweep up every drip on that plate! I'm telling you… I drove from Vancouver BC down here, just for the barbecue, and it was well worth it! Mr. Vercher, the Family....BRAVO ZULU! I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!! !
God bless you guys...
Read moreWe had tried their other location that is closer to us a few weeks back. We wanted to get a few of the options that are only available at this location so we drove about 20 minutes each way. This time we got sandwiches instead of the meat plate and we tried their red beans and rice as well as the corn bread. Unfortunately we realized too late that the hush puppies are only available on Fridays. That's okay, we will happily go back to try them sometime. The Mac and cheese wasnt ready yet but we were told that we should come for dinner sometime to try it. I guess we will be returning either next it the following Friday evening!
Anyway, about the actual food that we got! Their sandwiches are absolutely amazing. We got a brisket sandwich and the shermanator. The hot links are very hot so be ready for that if you get it! Both sandwiches were extremely good! Their meat is super tender and their sauce is really tasty. The corn bread was tasty but perhaps a bit too sweet. I could almost eat it as a dessert! Still good though. The red beans and rice had a decent amount of meat in there and had a good flavor with a bit of spice. All around a really good meal and we will continue to go back...
Read moreMy first trip here yesterday after a recommendation by a friend. I generally smoke my own bbq but didn't need to be smoking an entire brisket just for me. I ordered a pound of sliced brisket, a half rack of ribs, a pint of slaw and a side of the mac and cheese. Mac and cheese done right. Very tasty. The slaw was too salty for my taste and didn't have any acidic kick (usually from vinegar) which helps cut through the richness of the brisket and ribs. The ribs were fall off the bone and meaty. I'd give them a 4. As for the brisket there was one small albeit an important misstep. The brisket was sliced with the grain instead of against the grain. Some may say "what's the big deal" but if you do brisket you know exactly what I'm saying. Instead of tender pieces of fall apart brisket you end up with slices that are stringy and chewy. Also there was a lack of seasoning (to my taste - no salt or pepper hit). I will likely give them another go just to see if perhaps I hit them at a bad time (they were very busy and had...
