Where do I begin...
Beer: 3 out of 3 - Craft beer is consistently good/ great across all taps. Tried the sampler and can honestly say I liked all of them. The only one that I wasn't thrilled about wasn't even something they made, but one of their guest taps. It was still decent though. At the time of this review they have a phenomenal Anniversary IPA that is "fresh hopped" (hadn't heard the term before). I would not be exaggerating to say it is the best micro IPA I have tried
Food: 3 out of 3 - Got the meat and cheese platter and it was really good. Good quality meats, deli style mustard and some tasty pickled onion and jalapeno slices. It came with some sort of homemade pretzel roll that when combined with the meat, cheese and mustard became a magical morsel of goodness. My wallet did let out a small whimper over the cost of the platter but it was worth it. Going to try their beer cheese soup next time.
Atmosphere: If I lived closer my wife might become a geographical widow. Really cool, relaxing atmosphere. Back patio has plenty of chairs and shade. Inside has a good laid back vibe. I can imagine it getting pretty packed during evening business hours.
Bottom Line: If you are in the area give this place a shot. If you are a tourist they have some high quality swag.
One other thing...I think what the reviewer below is referring to is the smaller glasses they serve the high alcohol beers. This is a common practice that I have seen other breweries use as well. From an ethical and liability standpoint, a business owner does not want to serve a beer that has twice the alcohol of a macro in a pint glass. The customer may get more intoxicated than they'd planned. Also, I was told that high ABV beers cost more to make. I personally don't see it as an issue. If you are drinking for the alcohol content you'll get plenty and they usually have a...
Read moreAnother place bought out and ruined... we have been going to pikes peak brewing for years. Today when we arrived at pikes peak, recently bought by goat patch there were 10-15 kids running around from the back room to the outside. We met up with some friends and our two year olds were playing. Not screaming, not throwing tantrums, literally running from the back room to the outside area with us following right behind them. About 20 people were in the back room, all but one laughed and smiled at our kids playing, some even asked us about them and were talking to them . But the 1 person who didn't like it complained to an employee named Sarah. Instead of talking with the manager, Sarah took it upon herself to tell us to "contain our kids" she then proceeded to give us attitude while trying to order more drinks. When we approached her about it, she rolled her eyes and continued to be rude. Anna, the manager, stepped in and was very nice. Ultimately this situation was handled poorly and could have been resolved with some professionalism from Sarah. It seems to be a clear reflection of new ownership and employees, we have never had issues here before until it...
Read moreArrived yesterday around 6pm, stayed till 8pm. I counted least 5 people behind the bar, one was dedicated to food prep so he's off the hook but the others, didn't seem all too happy to be working there. No smiles. No "Hi, how are you?" or "Hi, I will be with you in a moment." Granted the place was quite busy. I waited what seemed like 10 mins to be served. One gentleman said he'd help me get served but never came back around. Finally served but the waitstaff was cold, uninterested. Hitting up local breweries are like a bucket list of hitting all the MLB stadiums but this place was just dreary. There was a shining star before the night was over, a new gal waitress from MN, all smiles, helpful & friendly. We showed her our appreciation.
As for the beer, hands down to Oceans of Clouds Hazy IPA. Took a can home & will seek out before I leave CO. It is the closest competition to Raised Grains Brewery's FourSaken. Ten was a close second. Gold was fine. Falcon Trails was way off. 1 sip was all you needed to say NO. The distinctive flavor of diacetyl was ever so present. If customer service was better I probably could have gotten a replacement flight...
