After having some really bad experiences after only being open for 2 weeks I decided to wait about a month or two before returning to give them time to work out the kinks. It felt unfair to judge them solely on these initial experiences in an industry that struggles in so many ways post-COVID.
Today I arrived at noon on a Friday, it was not a full dining room as all the other times I attempted to dine. I was promptly seated and my waiter was cheerful and attentive. I was able to put my order in just as he returned with my drink. I ordered the Gyoza and Alligator Roll.
My food took only about 10 minutes to come out after ordering. My sushi's presentation was pleasing to the eye and hit the spot, everything was absolutely delicious.
I was able to be in and out in under 45 minutes, which I believe is important for people who are more than likely coming in during a lunch break at work. This has improved DRAMATICALLY since my past visits.
So glad Sakura has come to our community and I plan to patronize them more often. I hope those of us who love this type of food will continue supporting them and keep them here. The value for what you get on your plate(s) is quite good considering many other local fast and mediocre foods can cost the same if not more.
If you have not tried them, I highly recommend you do, they will...
Read moreI really don’t like giving bad reviews but I just can’t not say anything. This place was really really bad, the food was so horrible for the price of sushi, I really couldn’t believe how terrible it was. Me and my family had our order put on to one dish. ( it was take out) I had one dish and they had one dish but they combined both dishes together. ( Really). I like to have my own plate . The rice was so hard and the fish and vegetables taste like store bought. Could have gotten at HEB and would have been better. I lived in Hawaii for 20 years and this place needs to send the Chief’s there and the owner to learn a lot of things about fresh sushi. Why are you do Woodville hard working people to this not even mediocre food. I tried eating it but just couldn’t. This is my second time trying this place it was bad then also. I really tried giving the benefit of the doubt but I’ll go to Houston or Beaumont before I spend another...
Read moreI had it to go, the prices don’t make up for the small amount of food offered. 25 dollars for a modest lunch box sized meal. The steak was great but the 1/2 cup of ‘fried’ rice suspiciously tasted like steamed rice doused in soy sauce and the 1/2 cup of vegetables was clearly set in the back under a heating lamp so long they completely over cooked to mush, even the carrots had the consistency of a canned vegetable. Their sushi roll ‘shagy dog’ is literally carrying the stars here it was good but you only get 6 pieces for 13 bucks. It’s like they figured a little hick town of Woodville wouldn’t tell the difference and would pay the high prices to avoid the travel time to a place where you can get a full sushi roll or an actual full plate of freshly made hibachi for the same price. Myself personally I’d save the money and travel for...
