Review: HORRENDOUS Manager: BILL

First, I would like to say that our waitress Ashlin was very nice. The following complaints have nothing to do with her.
We were seated by a young man when we entered the restaurant. There were no pleasantries and it was a bit abrupt, but that was fine. The dining room was untidy ... with straw papers, napkins, and the such on the floor, but maybe it had been a very busy afternoon, and as long as the table and the dishes were clean it should be fine.
We ordered from “ The Specials” menu. Generally, these would be the better meals of the day. Not today.
Liver and Onions... To say that my liver was overcooked would be an understatement. It was black, and dry as shoe leather. In their defense, they did try to cover it up with onions. The home fries must’ve been the same home fries they made for breakfast that day because they tasted as though they had been warmed over many times and were as crispy as potato sticks. The vegetables? HaHaHa. I’m not sure that they were ever vegetables. Obviously, previously frozen. I think the kitchen needs to learn the difference between throwing them into water verses steaming. The cauliflower was gray and looked moldy. The broccoli was nothing but stems. The carrots were hard. All were cold. The entire meal was inedible.
Spaghetti and meatballs… They must have ran low on sauce because it looked as though they had mixed it with water. I have never seen a spaghetti sauce that thin. The outside of the meatballs were warm, the insides were cold. My husband motioned for the waitress. I showed her my blackened liver ...crispy overcooked home fries ...and questionable vegetables. She looked down at my plate, and said I am so sorry. As she picked up my plate, she asked if she could get me anything else, but I declined. I honestly did not see any reason to have them bring anything else out. There were three separate items on my plate, none of the three were edible. What were the chances that the second time around would be any better? And I did not want to send a second meal back. Not to mention, that even though my husband decided to keep his meal because he had been eating it, it was substandard as well. Sometimes you just need to know when to cut your losses.
The manager, BILL came to our table. He looked at us, and the first words from his mouth were… NOW WHAT? To which I replied, I’m thinking nothing. Not with that attitude. I did ask though, what do you mean “now what?” We have not spoken with you before.
Which again I asked, why would you say that to us. (At this point you would think it could not get any worse… Wrong!). This was his reply… When your meal came back, and you did not want me to re-cook it… I said I will not be able to do anything for “THESE PEOPLE”. Of course my husband asked… These people? Is there something wrong with us? My wife’s meal was inedible, she sent it back. Bill then said, she had three things, all three were bad, so no I can’t do anything for these people
We both assured Bill that he could read about himself in the papers. (Reviews)
Our waitress Ashlin was very nice. The ranch dressing was good. -* we were seated abruptly, as though it was an inconvenience. -* your restaurant was very untidy. -* there was much more plate than salad. -* long wait before being able to eat... had to ask for silverware. -* burnt, black, leather-like liver -* crispy, warmed over too many times, like potato stick home fries. -* mushy, cold, gray, watered down vegetables. -* no bread and butter was ever delivered to the table. -* cold spaghetti. -* watered down sauce, so runny it ran over the plate instead of the spaghetti. -* cold meatball center. -* manager did not care enough to stop by the table. -* rude and racist remarks from BILL the restaurant manager. -* RUDE!

Actual review: So I'm not typically the type of person that writes reviews, but after going here several times, i feel like this deserves one.
Picture this: Its a wonderful morning and you want to go get some breakfast with some friends, and have one of the best starts to your day. You want something that's good, friendly, and not to mention cheap. That is basically what you get with Farmer Boy.
Even on their busiest days, they try to accommodate the best that they can with quality service. Their food overall is pretty decent compared to chains such as Denny's and IHop. The family owned restaurant welcome to new people and the staff make you feel at home really fast. Specifically at this one, once you come in the second time, they treat as part of their extensive family. Some people can be put off by this, but i personally enjoyed it. It made me feel safe.
For what it is, the food is great and the prices for said food is even greater. I usually order an omelet there for two reasons. One, its below 10 dollars and two, breakfast is all day everyday. Most of their dishes are priced under (at the most) 15 dollars, which makes it a decent meal overall. Even though they recycle a lot of things to use as containers and fillers for certain objects (I.e., water, silverware, etc) I noticed that they keep everything within the restaurant relatively clean.
Not everything about Farmer Boy is Spick and Span though, the glass still has a smudge on it. Usually they are good with big crowds despite their small size. However, on Sunday Mornings, their effectiveness seems to linger. These mornings (for some reason) they often tend to be understaffed and unprepared for the Mob of the usual elderly couples, and church goers that frequent the joint. With this big family also comes family drama, but it tends to be under control most of the time. Anything serious is usually handled outside, and at the back of the restaurant to avoid and stress inducing factors on the customers. Another thing that i witnessed recently is that two of the waitresses were complaining about regular not tipping them, which had them in a heated argument about the said regular. Considering it was for one, in the back, and two away from the public, it was a conversation that should be left alone. However, for someone who is in college (such as myself, currently) i can not afford a tip sometimes, and it pains me to do so, especially when the service is even better compared to some high class joints. Long story short, don't kiss gift horse in the mouth. You may regret later on, especially if someone overhears it.
Overall, i enjoy every experience that this Farmer boy offers me. The usual crowd usually consists of Older people, couples and alone...Families and College Students. Its a nice friendly atmosphere and i would totally recommend going here for some cheap and really good...
Read moreHaving been to Farmer Boy a lot and I really enjoy the food and the staff are always very nice I was taken aback when I got the worst service ever when I went there on Mon Feb 12th for my Birthday Dinner. One of the female staff that I had seen there many times was rude from the get go. She reminded us that they were closing soon but in a mean way. Then when we were going to sit down she said again in a not very nice way "what do you want to drink?" Then she was just walking away before we could look at the menu and even answer. There was only about 2 other customers in the restaurant and I think she was also mad that I wanted a window booth. My boyfriend and I looked at each other and decided to just leave because we were not going to be treated like that. Never ever have I been treated like that there. My Boyfriend is even a manager at a restaurant. He was appalled. We then went to Tumbleweed and gad a Great time with excellent service and food!! I know a couple days later it caught fire and I feel really bad for the owners. I hope they get it up and running again soon. But I will be back there and will talk to the management about the...
