6:30 am, I try to exit my room. The handle falls off in my hand as I could feel the interior locks grind. The deadbolt failed. I was trapped. Additionally, maintenance had screwed the windows shut 100 percent. 2nd floor, pretty frightening. Maintenance did respond quickly and was up soon. However the electronic key didn't work. I was trapped for an hour while small tools were passed under the door so I could try to take door apart from the inside. Photo shown midway through this process. Front desk refused to call for a locksmith, fire department. I called for support. Maintenance had trouble finding tools. After an hour he uses a putty knife and with enough coaxing, I'm out. Later I asked front desk for an apology or acknowledgement of this stress. Desk clerk said "what" and "what do you want from me" and was totally unsympathetic. I don't complain normally. This situation was preventable with routine maintenance and with ensuring your staff are organized and trained. It was the worst experience I can imagine at a hotel. I have also written Wyndham Corporate. Please be advised that in addition to this staff were not wearing masks when checking guests in.

We thought we found a diamond in the rough with this one when we booked it online but boy were we wrong! Emphasis on ROUGH!!!! The pool looked so nice in the pics and we called to confirm it was open during Covid. It was... and when I tell you it was the only clean place in the whole building, please know I'm not exaggerating. There was hair all over the stairs and our room wreaked of cigarette smoke. We had holes in the wall, mold on the floor, and a ripped chair. We debated sleeping in our truck but decided to stay. In the morning, we found something duct tape to the front of the tv that looked for all the world like a camera. I will include pics and let you decide for yourself. We will absolutely never be back and recommend that you avoid it, as well.

After getting screwed by Extended Stay (a place that houses car thieves as part of its shifty guests at its run down, unattended properties), I headed to Days Inn Wooster. Great price, 24 hour coverage (thank you Mike for your 3 a.m. cheer), easy parking, great breakfast, indoor heated pool. Have traveled much and this is the best. Loved it so much added a second day. Best Serendipity, did not know it was owned by Wyndham, my top hotel/vacation club/credit card accounts so not only avoided the hell hole but got loyalty points at a company that understands hospitality. C Suite take special note of Bob P, front desk agent. Unique dedication and both knowledgeable and pleasant. Give the gent a well deserved bonus.

Clean Rooms, nice staff, decent location indoor pool. Stayed here a few times and have had zero complaints.

Edited after my stay from 11-30-18 to 12-2-18

What a difference a year makes! I stay here a few times a year when visiting family. The last two times were disappointing, because of little inconveniences, things like key cards continuing to fail, pool being closed etc. However, this most recent stay will unfortunately be my last.

We checked in late and had to wait a wile to get our room, once we were checked in we discovered the TV remote would not work. We called the front desk and got a new remote which did not work at all, so I tried manually switching the channels but no.... it was stuck on one channel. Called the front desk nothing could be done until the next day. Additionally, the dresser was damaged, it was so unlevel that the drawers would not stay shut. I jammed the plastic drink tray under it to avoid bashing my knees on it as I walked by. Alerted the front desk who said they would have the maintenance guy look at it the next day.

So, I cant watch TV, I can't put my clothes away, I guess I will get some work done. Nope, as I went to sit down at the desk.... guess what?.... The desk chair was also broken! If the room had not been clean, I would have left the hotel entirely and found somewhere else to stay.

The staff did address my concerns with the dresser and the TV. Something was added to the front of the TV to allow the remote to work and someone cut a few strips of wood and put them under the dresser to level it out. However, no one cleaned up after themselves, saw dust was all over the floor in front of the bed. And speaking of cleaning up . The maid service missed the mark as well. I think all they did was make the bed.The towels were left on the floor and they did not sweep.

So if you don't mind having a room where nothing works (especially your room key) and not having anything cleaned up, then this...

I'd give this place five stars if it was listed as a 1- or 1.5-star motel. But most places list it as a 2 or 2.5 star hotel. It's not. Beware: Priceline lists this hotel as a 2.5 star.

The good: Cheap, College of Wooster/downtown Wooster about 10 minutes away, clean linens, clean bathroom, very comfortable beds.

The bad: outside maintenance, quality of the room and furnishings, TV size, room access, the drunk guy.

More on the bad. Most 2 and 2.5 star hotels have a certain "feel" to them. While not necessarily a Hilton, they look and feel somewhat upscale, have decent quality furnishings, and well apportioned bathrooms. This didn't. First, there is no direct access from the front desk/pool/breakfast area to the rooms. You need to go outside and re-enter through exterior doors to the interior hall and rooms. And the outside is not all that pretty. I would not want to walk my kids from the pool back to my room outside in the dark. The furniture and rooms are older...plenty of scuff marks, wallpaper that is starting to peel. The bathroom sink is in the room, and the bathtub/toilet room is tiny. The TV was very small (maybe a 28 inch?), and was haphazardly mounted to the wall. Wires were showing all around it.

And while we appreciated the drunk guy holding the door open for us when we checked in, we walked completely around the building to our room entry door to avoid going by him.

The bottom line: Consider this place to be in the same lineup as a Super 8 motel, Econolodge, or Red Roof Inn. If all you need is a cheap place to sleep, this will fit the bill. But I would not recommend it for families (especially with little children), nor for anyone who plans on spending a decent amount of time awake...

:::::BEWARE THEY HAVE BED BUGS:::::We originally booked our stay for two nights because we were in town for a wedding, initially checking in the lady at the front desk was nice… we checked in and left right away to go help set up for the wedding… later that night when going to bed, I felt a bite and felt multiple… I was instantly freaked out and sat up in a vinyl chair because no one was at the front desk… I didn’t sleep at all. In the morning around 7:00 am , I went and found the front desk person and showed him videos, pictures of bugs in the room, where I was bit, and the rooms conditions due to it not being clean… I didn’t get video of the different types of bugs and his response at first was, I’m from India that’s not a bed bug.. I said there were multiple types of bugs. He initially gave us 20% off the night we stayed and refunded our second night since we were not staying. I want back to the room to get our stuff and another bug on the bed… took a quick video, went to the front desk and he said “ oh now I think you’ll be getting a full refund” he took a video off of my phone and sent it to his manager. It was indeed a BED BUG!!!!! This place is not clean!! I appreciate the refund but now all of our stuff is trashed, costing us more money… only good thing that happened was checking into holiday inn express where they let us check in at 9 am without extra charges, told us to get breakfast and were so kind and understanding of what we just went through.. I was part of the wedding party and needed to get ready and appreciate holiday inn express for letting us check in so early due to our experience...
