(WEDDING REVIEW* WEDDING REVIEW*WEDDING REVIEW)
Country House Restaurant was by far one of my favorite vendors to work with for my wedding in December 2022. From the very beginning, Dave Fussell had a positive, confident and genuine attitude towards the opportunity. I reached out six months before the wedding in a panic and Dave jumped in right away. He asked all the right questions, (many questions I hadn't thought about at the time) provided options and gave me time to think more about the menu. He made great suggestions on the menu and the prices were in our budget. At the beginning of our conversations, I only requested dinner, but then a couple weeks later I asked if I could add in desserts (cupcakes and a hot chocolate bar! and a wedding cake). He added them in with no problems. Then, several weeks later, I made another request for alcohol and again, he's like no problem. There was no issue Dave and his team couldn't figure out. Even our last possible problem of not having a kitchen at our wedding venue. Dave figured out a way to still make sure the food would be cooked and hot prior to dinner. Honestly, every request I asked, Dave was able to deliver. During the planning process, Dave responded quickly, professionally, and most importantly always thanked us for the opportunity.
As we were getting closer to the big day, the wedding venue was not responding to my calls/emails and this really impacted Dave's planning, but when the chance came for the final walk through, Dave and Kris (Head Manager) was there. He was able to get things in order and Kris even talked the wedding venue into allowing Country House to setup a day earlier (this typically isn't allowed, but they truly wanted to provide the best experience ever!) I felt great going into the big day with Dave and Kris on my team.
Day of the wedding was ABSOLUTELY perfect! Everything ran on time with cocktail hour! Family and friends loved the appetizers and drinks. The reception was setup on time. Many of my guest complimented the food saying, "This was the BEST food they ever had at a wedding!" We had short ribs that melted in your mouth, stuffed shelled that was so yummy, fresh veggies, stuffed chicken, and a speciality salad. There was something on the menu for everyone (gluten-free and vegetarians) (Thinking about it now makes my mouth water!) The service was impeccable by the staff, the drinks during the reception were delicious and the bartenders were not stingy with the alcohol! :) The staff even helped with lighting my sparklers for our "sparkler send-off". They helped clean up the ceremony area and made sure everything was taken care of at the end of the night! If I could re-live the night over again on the experience from Country House catering alone, I most certainly would! Best service, food, drinks, professionalism, personable, caring and overall hard working business!
Thanks again, Dave, Kris, Ana and Country...
Read moreYou ever miss, or want to experience, the classic American brunch? This place has been here forever, and this is THE place to go. Prices are completely fair for value, just about everything besides the milk is homemade, and the place feels like a well kept but storied family home (with a 200 capacity dining room).
Me and my wife decided to try the place on a whim, and even on driving up we knew we were in for a treat. Outside looks straight from the 70s, but well maintained. Walk inside and you find a fridge with home crafted desserts, and a view that you only know if you've had a local family's brunch. To those local, think Keystone Cafe and Kingsberry. They're unfortunately gone though.
Servers were friendly and attentive, but also relaxed and smiling. They've clearly been at this among friends for some time.
The menu is diverse yet familiar, with clear names to items and nice puns here or there to give them identity. One big selling point is their house drinks (Non alcohol). They cone as an ENTIRE quart, and consist of homemade Lemonade with various mix ins. I got a Strawberry, and you could feel the fresh berry puree. Heavenly.
Our main course was the Shepard's platter and the King Leonidas. Platter came with a fresh plate-size pancake, with cooked red potatoes - sautéed spinach - 2 sunnyside eggs olives and fresh cut tomatoes. She ate half with ease, and only stopped at the potatoes because our Biscuits and Gravy filled us up first. I'm not southern, so I can't speak to how authentic they are, but we loved them. The King Leonidas is basically a Philly, but they did their own thing. Fresh chopped steak, olives, feta, cucumbers, red onions and lettuce on a toasted roll. I'm a Philly snob, but they didn't claim it to be one, and I was intrigued by the ingredients. It was love at first bite. Much leaner and more crisp than a true Philly, bread crisp and soft at the same time pairing perfectly with the well grilled steak and fresh veggies. Oh, and home cut onion rings with a thick crispy batter that means you don't need more than 4 or 5 to be happy. (AT NO UPCHARGE)
I cannot recommend Country House Resturant enough. We will absolutely be returning and bringing as many...
Read moreI am a regular Country House, and it seriously pains me to leave a 2-star review; however, I feel like, after tonight’s experience, I have no choice.
Country House is a very cozy family restaurant with typically remarkable service and pretty decent food. I frequent the establishment with my parents and haven’t come across any monumental issues with service or food until now.
I have a nut allergy that I have disclosed to some waitstaff in the past, but did not disclose tonight. As previously stated, I’m a regular and know which menu items are safe for me to eat. After tonight’s dinner, I decided to treat myself to dessert. I ordered peach cobbler as it’s one of my favorite desserts. I have tried their cobbler before and know that it is nut-free and hence a safe dessert.
Kelly, my waitress tonight, was extremely hospitable and tended to our every need, but took it upon herself to “jazz up” my dessert. Kelly made me feel special by delivering a beautifully decorated plate; however, she did not disclose that she added nuts to my dessert. Thankfully, I had Benadryl on hand and paramedics were not needed!
My family and I attempted to bring the issue to Kelly’s attention; however, she misunderstood my allergy, started to become passive aggressive with us, and began blaming me for not telling her about my allergy when I initially ordered a nut-free dessert.
I truly feel like this needs to be addressed and made aware of by management because nut allergies are common and extremely dangerous. As an adult with a nut allergy, I know what food is safe but I’m not going to know if a waitress with good intentions slips a dangerous food into my dish. Thank God I didn’t go into anaphylactic shock. This incident could've been so much worse. Country House, PLEASE educate...
