I'm officially done with Jersey Mikes. Our family has been ordering from the Wyckoff location regularly for the past year or so. The quality of the meats are a step up from Subway, coupled with the ability to place orders online, are two of the main attributes that initially drew us to the store. Since the popularity of the establishment has increased however, the appeal has dramatically decreased. The convenience of ordering online has long been lost, due to the fact that you'll still have to wait anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes in the store, PAST your scheduled pickup time, depending on the day (if it's a weekend, expect a wait on the longer end of the spectrum). The second reason for the low review, is the incredibly high error rate on properly fulfilling the order. After losing count as to how many times I've had to drive back and forth across town for them to remake one or more sandwiches (probably has high as 75% of the time), I started opening each sub there in the store. And when I fail to check, either because I'm feeling lucky, or because my family is bordering on cannibalism having had to wait so long for the food, I usually regret it. For example, I placed an order today (Saturday) for three sandwiches at 1:45pm for a 2pm pickup. I purposely arrived 10 minutes late (2:10pm), in order to minimize the time that I'd have to wait in the store. When I arrived, there were about 7 people in the online order pickup area waiting for their orders, and about 19 bags on the counter of unfulfilled orders. Our bag appeared be 11th in line. Though there were three people tending to walk-ins, and 2 or 3 people working on the online orders, it still appeared to be insufficient for the business volume. I eventually received our order around 2:30pm. Since my kids were ravenous, I left without acutely checking the order, and was home by 2:45pm (an hour after placing the order). Much to my dismay, they made one of the three sandwiches Totally wrong again (plain chicken vs. cheese steak...not even close). Since the mistake affected my picky 11 year old who refused to eat the mistake, there was much weeping and gnashing of teeth. And so, I was once again faced with the decision of spending another 30 minutes in the car, and 10 - 15 minutes having the $9 sandwich remade, or spend 15 minutes making him Mac and Cheese here at home. Again, the staff is usually friendly, and the sandwiches, when made correctly are OK, but for me, it's no longer a convenient way to eat, and just not...
Read moreI wanted to support this newly opened shop in my town by placing an order online with pickup on my way home from work. I specified the time I would pickup when I placed the order and actually arrived there almost exactly on time. There were several workers behind the counter but only one was actually waiting on a customer. None of the others greeted me or even attempted to ask if they could help me. After standing there with no help, I walked over to the girl at register, who was sitting on a stool waiting to check someone out. After telling her I was picking up an order she directed me the other end of the counter at the back part of the store. There was the “pickup” up area - a metal rack with 2 orders on it in bags each having the register receipt taped on the bag showing the name and order details. This was only the beginning of my disappointment. When we opened the bags there were the 2 hoagies that were soaked with the oil and vinegar dressing. The bottom of the hoagie was just about impossible to pick up because it was so soaked. Clearly these hoagies were either sitting in the “pick up area” for quite a while or someone there doesn’t know how to make a hoagie. I am not even sure the hoagies were made correctly with the correct combination of cold cuts and cheese. Hope Jersey Mike does some retraining of...
Read moreI walked in and quickly noticed how crisp everything looked. It was clean and bright as expected from a new spot. You order at the counter in the middle and then pay at the end, but then I had to loop back around to the other side because I ordered a hot sandwich. There are tables everywhere for carious sized groups and also plenty of parking if you plan to order "To-Go" and then drive off on a hike or adventure with your sandwich. The Jersey theme is strong which is good in my book especially in New Jersey. I don't know if the beach theme will work all year around, but it made me feel the warm fuzzies. The sandwich I got was really good and hot, but apparently the cold cuts are too. My dad said they give twice as much for toppings as some other sandwich shops do which is good because Jersey Mikes is a little more expensive. Quality costs. The menu is clear and the calories are listed. You can order ahead and...
