My dad and I had a long trip to Duluth from Iowa and on our way back to Minneapolis airport we decided to try a local eatery. We saw Linwood pizza on the route and decided to stop by. We were definitely glad we did. It was a very cute environment, cozy, and felt like home. We had the Canadian Bacon and Pineapple pizza and decided to try a maple syrup soda (which was very tasty surprisingly!). There was also a maple syrup style pizza dish we will have to try the next time we come through. Alex was our server and was very friendly and very welcoming, super Midwest nice. We appreciated he came over and chatted with us to ask how it was going and what we were doing this weekend, which we appreciated as a server. The pizza was excellent, the kind of dough they use was super tasty! The sauce a very bright flavored tomato sauce. My dad was so pleased with the experience he said he left there feeling great and was not easily comfortable in a place so fast as he was here. We absolutely LOVED the service and the atmosphere. A great experience and great people. By far one of the best pizza places I have ever been to! You can really tell they care about their customers and pizza - the pizza tastes like it it made with happiness. What a wonderful place - we go to Duluth every few months so we know where we are stopping on the way back...
Read moreWe ordered takeout recently. I am not sure how understaffed they are, but we were put on hold for 7 minutes. We waited it out because last time we wanted to order from Linwood they were closed. We ordered a salad and a 3 meat pizza. We were told it would be ready in 35 minutes. When we went there to pick up the order it was a hot mess. The lady at the counter had a person on the phone, and one waiting for their takeout order. We were in the lobby for 10 minutes and she never made eye contact, welcomed us, or gestured that she would be with us soon. Finally someone from the back came out and helped us. We got home and sat down for dinner. The salad was good, but the pizza was wrong. It has been the last few times. Even though they read the order back to us, they ring it in wrong. We had a 3 meat supreme, not the 3 meat we ordered. One of us doesn't like mushrooms, and the other doesn't like onions, so this gets complicated. This has happened 3 times now. Although the pizza is good, this makes us want to give our business to someone else. Hopefully they can get the personalities and order...
Read moreIt was good... I mean it's pizza... I think I've become sort of a pizza snob though.
Reply to Linwood Pizza, as I don't have a reply button. (Strange)
Honestly I had meant to give you 4 stars. A for the pathway to 5 stars, I'd begin with adding at least one DYNAMITE deep dish offering. Not the super thick crust kind though. The kind where the cheese and toppings are piled high within the high wall crust. Full disclosure: your pizza was delicious. I had no complaints. Thin crust has it's appeal, but for me, that deep dish is what earns a 5 star review. Second, when I think of a quality new York or Chicago pizza place, I think of 5 star pizza in a very nice pub like atmosphere, or 5 star pizza so good, it doesn't matter that the place is basically a chair and a table.
This is my opinion. I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I would begin at at least some form of ultimate specialty offering. I'd say the deep dish, even at a much higher rate. What do you have to lose? It could make a big difference for you.
Again.... your ingredients and sauce are great. Your pizza is tasty. 5 stars...
