Hearing local praise of Noble's healthy options, I took my boys there for lunch between sporting events. Arriving was a challenge, as the entry was congested with those coming and going. The door goes directly into the restaurant. The server that sat us was kind enough to put us away from the door. My child was still shivering most of the time and my feet, in boots, never warmed due to the draft. The menu was full of options for gluten free and vegan, but I wouldn't say healthy. The only chicken was fried or on a salad loaded with bacon, cheese, and croutons. I chose a salad and decided to remove what it didn't want. We had time to decide on our entire meal and drinks, plus send the kids to the bathroom before we saw a server for the first time.
The food came fairly quickly. However, the runner spilled all of the kid's sweet potato chips onto the table when she tilted the plate down. She was surprised and said, "how did that happen?"
The kid's meal chicken tenders were very small, considering it only came with 2. The cole slaw side was very watery with browned cabbage. The croutons were extremely stale, like they had been refrigerated and became wet, but chewy. It was all quite bland as well. It was difficult to enjoy the meal as it was, but the constant flock of fruit flies surrounding us was disturbing. We saw our server twice. I had to flag her down for the check and didn't have time to ask for a water refill. Their payments are in a handheld system that suggests gratuity percents, all over 18%. My standard is 20%, but considering our experience, I was going to put in 15%. The machine put $.15. She offered to cancel the payment and let me do it again, but by then we were running late. I had cash, but needed change. But there is no register at the front. I asked another server that was nearby. She couldn't make change. I looked for our server. Gone again. We put on our coats and left. I still didn't see her before we exited. I feel bad about the tip, but had no other choice. What a disappointing experience overall.
UPDATE: I EMAILED AS REQUESTED AND CALLED....
Read moreWhen first coming to the area in early 2020, Noble quickly became a go-to favorite. As a vegan, not only do I appreciate a restaurant with clear vegan markings on their menu, but also lots of options to choose from. To have savory and sweet is a real treat. The Gardener's Hash Browns became a repeat favorite (subbing out hash browns for red skins) with the vegan pesto and sour cream it was an excellent flavor combination.
Having frequented Noble consistently for the last 3 years I'm extremely disappointed in how downhill my experience has gone. From such a high experience at the start to now is day and night.
For the last year now there is no vegan sour cream, they simply seem to have stopped making it but only saying they are out of it when asked. My Gardener's hash browns have BARLEY any garden in them. I can't believe they can even call it that still with the lack of veggies they serve. Half of my orders are missing the pesto. Sometimed no tomatoes. It's like sometimes the cooks don't know what the items are supposed to contain or by now they simply don't care.
My most recent visit in person i tried spending more on the vegan scramble to specifically request the items it should come with, which by menu says it comes with vegan cheese. Mine did not come with cheese and still minimal on veggies.
Today we ordered via door dash, and I wonder if those tickets get even less care or concern cause my vegan scramble gave me zero online options to add anything, so I hoped it'd come with something on it. Nope, just $10 tofu scramble. This time with the "vegan cheese," so i guess that's something? We ordered and paid for red skin potatoes and got none. I ended up cooking veggies I had at home to even make that a meal. And we ordered vegan pancakes... which were clearly not vegan and therefore not something I ate.
Noble went from my favorite restaurant in Grand Rapids to a place I will not likely not patron again for a very long time, if ever. I'm so disappointed in the downswing and really hope they make...
Read moreLet me preface this by saying that, based on the other reviews, I would imagine that my experience with Noble was a bizarre fluke. But both my boyfriend and I were shocked and confused by the state of the meals that we received today. I ordered the vegan breakfast burrito which was a bit dry. It also was not served with vegan sour cream, tomato, or the side of fruit as it was advertised on the website. It did however have the avocado and salsa that was described on the menu — mind you it was a singular slice of avocado and maybe a teaspoon of salsa, but it was present.
My boyfriend ordered the biscuits and gravy — we did not realize until arrival that we were paying $9.00 for a single biscuit with gravy. The biscuit was so dense that we struggled to cut through it, and the texture was really tough and rubbery. His meal did not arrive with the house potatoes as advertised, but I gave him the hashbrowns I had ordered, which were terribly burnt (see attached photos). The only redeeming part of his meal was the poached egg... “Those were nice” were his exact words. We have made it a point to try and support Grand Rapids’ local businesses, and I understand that things are especially stressful during this season. Things happen and there may have been some sort of extraneous circumstances leading to the lapse of quality, but we were truly surprised that an establishment with such rave reviews would deem our meals as appropriate to serve...
