The food was good! We went here to try pupusas, and we were not disappointed. Don't go here if you are expecting some fancy restaurant, because it is more like a family run, authentic place that's just serving good food for a good price. Although they close at 9, we went in at 8pm and we were the only people in the whole place for the entire duration that we were there. We each ordered a pupusa platter (which by the way, they had like 15+ different kinds of pupusas and I am sure they are all good). We were given chips and salsa which was okay, and then they also brought us out lentil soup and it was SO good!! I could have eaten a big bowl of that. Our meals came out - I had ordered the meal with rice and beans, with a pork & cheese pupusa, and a jalepeno and cheese pupusa. The beans were great, the pupusas were great (very cheesy) but the rice tasted like it was from a few days before. My friend ordered the steak and cheese pupusa, and a chicken and cheese pupusa, and his came with fried plantains, beans and crema. Those plantains were delicious!! And we weren't sure if the crema was for them or not, so we just used it like that anyway. His steak and cheese pupusa was the best of the 4 - of course we are like fat Americans and didnt order a single one without cheese, but if we get take out from here in the future I would like to try a few without all of the cheese. They also give you some pickled cabbage like stuff, that you can top the pupusas with, but I didnt really like it. We both ordered a big glass of Horchata which I was overly excited about and it was very good. The service was also very good - the guy (possible owner?) took care of us after we told him it was our first time there. He did a good job explaining them menu and the food, and told us the authentic way to eat the pupusas, etc. He was very kind and attentive. We got out of there with just a $25 bill, so it...
Read moreUpdate; ordered today using Door Dash.... it's not door dash fault. I ordered 2 pupusas dinner once it arrived, and I came to find out I got no beans. I'm so disappointed.
During this time of Covid, I never knew what's open to dine-in and when the restaurant's close. This was my last option on a Sunday because everywhere else was closed. I will say that you have to have your mask on to enter and until your food is at your table, which is great. Seating is very limited. Honestly, we were the only ones who were dining. I had five different dinners at my table just because my kids were with me. My younget had the Marisco soup it came with a side of rice, diced onion and cilantro. If you want tortilla, it would be a $1 extra. My other two kids opted for the carne asada plates. They weren't impressed. Both my kids said the meat was very hard and chewy. My son loved his tacos. they make it with hand-made tortilla steak and cilantro. I had an order of pupusas, steak, pork rinds, and chorizo. It was delicious. What didn't make my list was an order of taquitos dorados. They weren't at all good. Honestly, it tasted like they came from a box, not my best choice. Overall, I would say it was okay still k with what you know if you want...
Read moreI hadn’t even heard of pupusas a year ago. But this fun experiment has taught me a little about the variants of Latin and Central American cuisine and I was excited to try pupusas! From Wikipedia: Pupusa is thick cornmeal flatbread from the Maya/Pipil culture of El Salvador. It is stuffed with one or more of the following ingredients: cheese, chicharrón, squash, refried beans, or cheese with loroco. C’mon, cornmeal flatbread stuffed with cheese and fillings, sounds great! I ordered the Mexican (cactus, jalapeño, and cheese,) the Chicharron, and the Original Camaron con queso (shrimp and cheese) and they were fantastic. My thought was this, given all the tacos I’ve tasted lately, I’ve come to realize that the slow-cooked meat is the carrier of flavor on a taco, not so with pupusas - the meat is a subtle nuance of all the flavors together, along with the pillowy texture of the cornmeal tortillas. Lastly, the fried plantains and refried beans and sour cream was an amazing accompaniment. So delicious! If you’re looking for authentic latin/Central American food, but your kids just like quesadillas, this place is perfect, just order a plain cheese...
