It was going to start as a 3 star, but let me tell you how I got to one.
I visited TJ on 6/8/17. I stood in line for about 3-5 mins to order my food. There were staff working some sitting, and the back looked hectic. I was in no rush, so I waited on my food. It took a little over 10 mins for street tacos. The young lady delivered my food, didn't mention the wait, I discussed this with her later. The food was subpar - bland and gross. looking. After trying the food, I kind of sat there pondering if I was going to write a review. Finally a young man Alex noticed i wasn't looking to happy. He took the time to ask how I was and showed a general sense of care(great customer response), but he was obviously frustrated with how the evening work shift was going. He apologized, and took the food to the manager to show the poor workmanship. Alex returned with the comment, that the manager said that the food was a result of a bad night. I wasn't looking for a refund or anything, just acknowledgement that things were not right, which surprisingly I got. While waiting to talk to the staff, I found the most recent review from a month ago that described my experience to a tee. The review was someone who remembers TJ being good, going back, having slow service and sub par food and probably not coming back based on this experience. I asked to talk to the manager, nice guy from Florida, but in obvious need of some additional leadership help, as he explained that he was forced to work on the line instead of manage his staff. I showed him the comment from a month ago, and he didn't have much of an answer other than to contact customer support. So really a piss poor experience overall.
Now Taco Johns, before you leave the comment to call customer service, which was the advice to the last disgruntled customers review, I am going to note that I called the next day. 6/9/17, I was transferred to Matt's answering machine and never heard a response, going on 5 days later (3 of which have been business days.) Which makes me wonder if this review will even register on your radars.
I don't know how your other locations are, but if this location is at all representative of your current business, I see a slow decline of a once loved company. No matter how nice you make your establishments look, it is not going to fly with service and management like this. This...
Read moreOur previous non-recent visits to this location have been great because portions, because flavor. The manager tells us they've changed now... Amazing tasting food is the only reason I'm leaving this many stars. My wait in the drivethrough was about 20 minutes... A car honked behind me. The wait was long because "they're short-staffed". I learned after getting home and calling the manager to let them know our order was wrong, that the manager's boss was present. You would think this would provide the needed staff 🤷. We were missing our guacamole and utensils... An inconvenience only remedied by going back in the store for a refund (on guac... It's 99¢... Please save me the inconvenience and do it over the phone). The biggest disappointment was that our salads were half the portion of usual... Which I learned from the manager's boss via the manager that this is the new normal because this location has been wildly overportioning their salads which won't be happening anymore. (The pic shows how our salad looked after it was handed to us sideways in a bag and the new small, correct portion. Time to use this picture for advertising the truth of what their food looks like... Instead of their overflowing...
Read moreWe stayed here for a convention of sorts, and while the staff was great, the state of the hotel, not so much. There was one elevator out for the entire time we were there so it made it next to impossible to use the only other elevator the entire time as there were too many people for only one elevator. The staff also seemed way overwhelmed and had a very hard time doing their jobs due to this. We were told it had been out for around 6 months. We also had numerous problems with our keys. Getting into our room was a hassle as we usually had to insert it a bunch of times just to get into it. Getting into the pool/gym area was even harder. There was times when I had to stand at the door for at least 10 minutes just to get the key to work. If it weren't for these I would have given a 5 star review. But I do say again that the staff was fantastic. They were always courteous, as quick as they could be if we had any problems (our tv stopped working and they had someone up within 10 minutes of us calling to fix it) and even though most of them were obviously overworked, I never heard them complain. Great place to stay if you don't mind...
