We took a long ride out in the back country on mother's day and came up to wytheville va. We came across the elpatio Mexican grill in a shopping center just off i81 and i77. The decor is cute and atmosphere feels Mexican or Hispanic.
The service is extremely slow. Once seated we had menus and a young boy served a basket of tortilla chips and bean and queso sauce which was delicious. We waited well over 20 minutes for a server to come take an order. We finally flagged down a gentleman who had been running the cash register and seating guests. We asked if we could place our drink and food order. He took our order of nacho supreme grande or something like that I can't remember the name and the special dinner which was a sample of 4 of their dishes. With beans and rice. He soon came back to tell me they were out of the chiles reijeno and something else so I asked to change my order n I needed the menu for a second. I made my selection n after 15 minutes had to flag him down to give him my choice of Chilaquiles. After about 20 minutes our food came, my husband's nachos looked quite good. But my plate of Chilaquiles with rice and beans looked like a giant plate of soup. Way too much red sauce. I used my dry very bland rice to soak up some of the sauce. The refried beans were very thin almost like cream. Despite the horror of the appearance of my giant plate of soup. The sauce was very flavorful. The pulled chicken was tender and seasoned nicely. The beans were unremarkable. The bed of tortillas were more like a noodle in consistency. Which was fine but I was expected a bit of crunchy texture. I am not sure if their problem with service was because they are short staffed or they had a lot going on with some take out or whatever.
The restaurant appears clean and comfortable. Music was not too loud. I would say at the time of our visit there was about half the tables seated.
Would I return? Yes, but I would most likely order another dish. I would like to try them on a non holiday sometime when I am in the area. My husband enjoyed his nachos. I did enjoy my meal despite its misgivings of being soupy. I give this dining experiences 3.5 stars although in Google reviews I can only...
Read moreOrder a simple chorizo and queso to go. Got home with my order to see there was barely any queso and just a pile of chorizo. I called to ask them if this is how they make it or if this was an accident because it was not good at all and not even a full order. Newly enough queso to mostly cover the bottom of the container. The lady I spoke with told me the manager was too busy to come to the phone but they would rake it when they weren’t busy if I wanted that. I let her know that I live to far out and I’m not driving back out there tonight. Informed her “it’s fine ma’am, I will leave a review and simply not come there again.” Her response to me was “whatever, that’s childish”. She continued to repeat that’s childish until I finally did say some less kind words to her that I won’t repeat here, then hung up. Will never go here again!! Go to Tres Potrillos instead. They’re amazing! Great service and food every time. I will never repeat this mistake again. Just wanted to warn others about what service you will get there. Also the food is not quality and prices to high compared to others...
Read moreUPDATE. I decided to give it another try. Big mistake. I got a chicken quesadilla and that's all it had in it!No cheese ,onion, peppers or any sauce. It was completely dry.I also got a taco salad and the meat looked like it didn't have any seasoning on it whatsoever. They laid 2 tomatoes on top and it barely had any sour cream. The lettuce overtook the whole bowl. But there was no sauce for it. The guy who took my order over the phone wasn't any helpful when I asked questions about certain items. I won't get anything from there again. But my husband still may since it's apparently not hard to make a enchilada.//We got take out and we're not completely happy. The prices are outrageous for the amount you receive. I had mixed fajitas and they don't include any toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream or sauce. For 18.00 it should have the works. The refried beans were so runny they looked like soup. And you could not even see any spices on the food. My husbands dinner wasn't the best either. The chips they included were stale. If your gonna charge an arm and a leg at least make it good.Y'all...
