Update (1 month later) Decided to give Tokyo another chance for lunch and had a much more delightful meal the second time around! I ordered the Pork Gyoza appetizer and Sea Scallop entrée... The gyoza was perfectly pan-seared and the filling both tasty and substantial. My hibachi entrée came plated with veggies and fried rice and was proceeded by clear onion soup and a small salad with ginger dressing... The soup and salad were flavourful (I finished them both) but the star of the meal was definitely the scallops! They were expertly cooked and, with 5 full-sized scallops, it was the perfect portion for lunchtime- especially when paired with the large servings of rice and veggies.

All in all, I was much happier this visit and am pleased to make this my go-to for hibachi!

Original Review Being from northern Virginia and the Washington, DC area, I'm accustomed to the kind of sushi that knocks your socks off and has you waking up in the middle of the night with overwhelming cravings for dishes you had only mere hours before... And, sadly, Tokyo is no where near being in the same league. I recently moved to the area and decided to stop in today for lunch, on a whim. After looking through the menu, I decided to go with the Two Roll lunch special (served with Miso Soup for $8.99) and also ordered an appetizer of the Steamed Shrimp Dimsum. The soup was overrun with seaweed and tasted way too salty, so it's definitely not something worth paying for a'la carte. As for the Dimsum- the dumpling, itself, was sticky and gelatinous but the filling was substantial and tasty, so I ended up discarding half of the exterior of each one to better enjoy the shrimp within. And, finally, despite taking a pretty picture, the sushi was a total letdown... The rolls were super-small and lacked a reasonable amount of protein, especially the Eel-Cucumber Roll, and they were not rolled very skilfully, so they kept falling apart. All, in all, although the service was wonderful, I'd rather drive 5 hours back to NoVA than have sushi here again- but will likely come back to try the hibachi and give an updated review...

Went here for a late lunch. Very friendly staff. Food was better than I expected for Wytheville, where the options for Asian food are very limited. Ordered chicken teriyaki hibachi and an order of spring rolls. The miso soup was excellent, better than any I had in Richmond. The spring rolls were delicious and came with flavorful sauces. The salad was a typical iceberg lettuce affair with the standard Japanese style dressing, which was fine, nothing special. The hibachi was served with fried rice. The vegetables included some zucchini, onions, cabbage and mushrooms. The hibachi was a bit bland. Had to add soy sauce, which I do not like to do, to flavor up the dish. The vegetables were way over cooked instead of being a bit crisp. The rice was good (bland, added soy sauce). The chicken was a. It rubbery. Still, the service was excellent and the price was very affordable for Japanese, ~$12.50 plus tip. It will do for the limited Asian options. Would love to have a good Vietnamese and Thai place but Wytheville is just too...

We came in to eat at 8:30- we ordered our food and I had forgotten to tell them no mushrooms in my food as I am allergic to mushrooms. When our food came out it had mushrooms in it. I had politely asked our waiter if they could fix this and I had mentioned that this was my fault it had totally slipped my mind that there was mushrooms in the food. He looked at me and said “sorry our kitchen closes at 9”. I told him to just take my plate back and not charge us because I could not eat it- he not only took my plate but he also took my bowl of rice as well. Now let’s keep in mind that it was 9:08 when they brought our food out and I had asked about correcting my food at 9:10. I just think that this is very unprofessional on their behalf. I believe you should go above and beyond for your customers and they definitely did not. The manager did not even come over and talk to us or anything. We will not be returning. Definitely not satisfied with the service that we received from the...

Sashimi plate was excellent (photo). The pieces of tuna, white fish, salmon and mackerel were fresh and delicious. The side bowl of rice was also exceptional. The bento box (photo) was average at best. Way, way too much cooked onions and cabbage as its feature, and way too little mushrooms and squash in the mix. The four sushi pieces of a California roll were OK. Two very small spring rolls were fine. The side salads sadly did not have peanut sauce offered; just in-house ginger sauce and American shelf dressings. The salads arrived much too drenched in ginger sauce (photo). The miso "soup" was actually a thin miso broth and nothing more; a real disappointment. The hot tea was good. The service was fine. The meals were priced on the high side for the region.

This was a fine stop for lunch. We were traveling along Interstate 81 with our dogs and pulling our travel trailer. The restaurant is located in the same complex as Wal-Mart and Lowe's and is right off exit 70. We were able to park the camper. There wasn't an outdoor dining area, so we grabbed our folding table and got takeout. The food was ready in about 10 minutes and we were able to order lunch specials on Sunday. My husband enjoyed the teriyaki chicken and I had the hibachi shrimp. Each meal came with soup, salad and ginger dressing, hibachi vegetables, yum yum sauce, and fried rice. All of this for under $20. It wasn't the best I've had, but it worked for today and was a good value.

So this was posted in the wytheville community page from a server there bashing a customer who spent over $100 on dinner and didn’t leave a tip(Remember tips aren’t required) also she publicly threatened this customer and then in the comments stated that the owner and manager said her post was okay and was standing up for her so I HIGHLY don’t recommend eating here unless you for sure are tipping otherwise you will be bashed and threatened online she also stated they took the customer’s picture from the security camera so they will know the next time they go in ! UGLY AND 🤢
