Taku Japanese Steakhouse (Xenia) — Restaurant in Xenia

I haven't ordered anything from Takus in a long time, and I thought having some would be a nice treat for me for the holiday week. I ordered their teriyaki salmon bento box, yakitori as an appetizer, and tempura yakisoba. I originally wanted to get the lobster lunchbox but I saw that it was removed from their menu, which was a bummer for I was hoping to get that instead.

I ordered take out and as soon as I arrived my food was ready, the service lady was nice, and my food was piping hot. The food was delicious, the salmon was tender, meaty, and flakey, my tempura shrimp was light and crispy, I was surprised that they gave me yakisoba soup, it was a bit of a shock to me but I didn't mind. The broth has a burst of umami flavor with a noticeable sweetness to it and they give you a lot of it.

I was hesitant about getting the yakitori, the last time I ordered some it was dry, it didn't have much sauce, and there was no green onion on the skewer. This time the yakitori was soft and only a little dry, there was green onion, and there was more sauce.

The only gripe I have with my food is that the dipping sauce for the tempura is salty, it always throws me off because the dipping sauce you get at Sakés is sweet and pairs nicely with the tempura. Takus dipping sauce doesn't taste bad at all--in fact it's good. I just prefer the umami sweetness of Sakés dipping sauce as opposed to Takus. Second, I really would love that they use boneless skinless chicken thighs for the yakitori, the few times I have ordered it, it's usually very dry and/or somewhat moist. 10 out of 10 stars I promise! So last night we came in for dinner after my daughters softball practice. It was her birthday and she wanted sushi! Thankfully we have a sushi place in xenia now!!! So we decided to give it a try. OMG it was so worth it. They were getting ready to close and I hate coming into a restaurant when they are about to close (ik it takes a lot of work to get the closing done) but it was about an hour before they closed so I said ok lets do it. We were sat quickly and the waitress was amazing. We didn't tell them it was my girls birthday until after we had ordered and ate by that time the kitchen had closed and the kitchen staff left so the waitress apologized that they didn't have everyone there to sing hbd to her. We didn't even expect that from them we had just mentioned it in a conversation. I couldn't believe it the owner came out with a fried ice cream a lit candle in it and we all sang happy birthday to my girl.... Seriously the best place I've been in a long time they value the customer the food is great and the service is amazing if I could give 10 stars I would they made my girls night! I visited the drive thru to this restaurant on 2/15/2023 at 16:42pm. My Steak Yaki Udon noodles came to $14.95. I went through the drive thru and the young man at the window (server #0911) seemed very nice and I paid my $14.95. The next day I looked at my bank statement and it said $19.95. I called and asked why I was charged $19.95 and the woman that answered the phone took my number and said management would call me. I received a call and text message with a receipt that was altered. The restaurant did refund the money altered. The manager also said that the young man that did this would not get fired because it was his first offense. I said “He may be doing this to people and they are not paying attention. Something should be done about this. If I would have changed my mind on the receipt I would have put my initials. “
