The food was ok. The service was awful. I had a carryout order and they lost it. I got there to pick it up and they tried to tell me I must not have actually placed an order, and tried to make it my fault that they didn't have it. The 3 women at the front counter asked which phone number I called, telling me I MUST have called the one in Union Gap (I didn't). And that none of them remembered taking my order. Then they said another woman named Monica had come in and picked up an order, but they had no idea if they gave her the right order or not. They asked who I talked to, and while I didn't catch the name, my phone records calls from numbers that arent in my contacts list. I told them I could listen back and find out who it was and their eyes got big and they shook their heads no.
They put my order in again, and I waited. My friend had placed an online takeout order, and his was ready, so the cashier handed it to me and I held onto it while I waited. A few minutes later, one of the women at the front desk came marching over and asked me what order I had, as if I had actually gotten mine and was lying to them. This woman watched someone else hand me this order and then accused me of having my order already. There was never any indication or offer that they would make it right. They made me the problem, rather than their staff.
The biggest problem of all is that we have a dairy allergy in my house, which I communicated both times I ordered (my original, and the replacement). The dairy-free order contained cheese.
Another customer was waiting with me because they had given him the wrong order for carryout twice. I don't think I would do business here again. Losing an order and not apologizing for the inconvenience is one thing, disregarding a food...
Read moreStopped in here for lunch last Monday. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you walk in, it's surprisingly big. The place could easily serve as a nightclub. Everything looked clean & organized. The decor was just right. The wait staff wear clean, classy uniforms and are very attentive & courteous. The booth & table were clean and comfy. The lunch menu prices were very reasonable, even cheap compared to many other restaurants. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent, some of the best I've ever had. Once the food arrived, it was obvious that we had a winner: the portions were super generous, everything was fresh and perfectly prepared & presented. The flavors were excellent. The tortillas were fresh & tasty. Once we were ready to leave the check was brought on a cool custom wood tray along with some Andes mints.
My only suggestions to the management for improvement are:
We walked in and the man was very straight-faced. He didn't even crack a smile and didn't welcome us. they took a really long time to take our order and it was only 4 of us, there are very few people in the restaurant when we arrived. the lady taking our order took our order and then walked away before getting my granddaughter's order. She wrote down my daughter's order wrong and was really rude to my daughter about getting the order correct. It is their job to know the menu not ours. Our appetizer took a really long time to get to us and then right after the appetizer came out our food came out so we didn't even get to enjoy the Appetizer before our food was in front of us. I have always really enjoyed El Porton but since they moved to the smaller restaurant the service has never been the same. They never asked if we were ready for a check even though they had brought boxes for us. we finally had to just get up and go over to the cash register. Most restaurants will tell you that they will take care of you at the register when we're ready they said nothing like that. I'm afraid this will be the last time I go to El Porton for a very long time,...
